I just got my hands on two Beo5s (only wanted one really, but there was a listing on eBay for a bunch of B&O items including two Beo5s, and there’s no harm in having two).

One of them seems to be working fine, and the other one worked at first, but developed a fault after just a day of use.  This resulted in the screen coming off entirely.  Let me tell you what happened:

On the day it arrived I charged it and tested it, and it seemed to work fine.  I’d never owned a Beo5 before but it seemed to work as expected.

After using it for a bit though, I found that the screen was not responding correctly – it wasn’t always responding to touch, and would sometimes act as though I had touched a different area of the screen.

Then it started to behave in one specific way – the button on the middle-right of the screen was the only one that would respond (this was N.Music).  It did not matter where on the screen I touched, only that button reacted.

While I was playing about with it I discovered why – the screen came right off!  Obviously it’s glued in place somehow, and that glue has degraded.

If I put the screen back in place, it tries to work, but again, it won’t react to the right area of the screen.  Since I put the screen back on (loosely – I have made no attempt to glue it yet), it now only responds as though I am touching the bottom-centre button.

See photo 1 with the screen in place – you can see it has selected the ‘Sky’ menu (which is not what I clicked!) and now it is stuck there.  The bottom-centre Top-Menu button is highlighted as though my finger is on it, and no other button will react.  If you fidget about with the screen from the sides, but don’t touch it, you hear clicks as though buttons are being pressed, but it’s stuck in that ‘Sky’ menu now.

Photo 2 shows the screen removed, and you can see the contacts.

I’m not sure if cleaning the contacts might help, but before I start messing about with it, wondered if anyone else had experience of this same issue.
