BRONZE MemberHi everybody
I bought a used Beo 6. If the remote is in the charger the display is alive and I see the message “charging”.
If I remove it the remote is out of battery. So I think the problem is the battery and I have ordered a new one.
After I removed the connection puts I see a red cable that was installed from the pre owner soldered to the remote. Does anyone know what this could be?
Second question, because it’s my first Beo 6, how can I connect it to my computer? On the second photo you can see the charger and the cable of the power supply-
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

I cannot help you for the 1st question.
For the 2nd, connect a USB to mini USB cable to the charging base.
I assume that you have already installed the configuration tool on your PC.
Attached a very useful guide written by another Beoworlder, I hope it will help you.
Note that it is VERY important to have the Beo6 fully charged before downloading the file created in the software to the remote.
May I suggest you to read the other posts is this sub-section, you’ll learn a lot of things to know about this remote.
In the archived forum there is also a Beo5/6 section with a lot of informations.
Kind regards,
Yann.

BRONZE MemberThank you very much for your answer and the BEO 6 Configuration Guide. That will help me a lot.
I also find the right cable to connect it to my computer.
Next step is to see how it works with the new battery next week.
Perhaps someone else can help me with my first question concerning the red cable.
Kind regards
Michael

I cannot tell what the red wire is.
Good luck!

BRONZE MemberThank you very much for the service manual.
I will report back when I receive the battery, once with soldered cable and when I remove it.
The main thing is that the remote charges and keep its voltage after I put it off the charger.
Kind regards
Michael

Something very important to remember is that when the remote is connected to your PC, that is not capable of keeping the remote fully charged while programming as the USB does not provide enough power.
I always fully charge the remote and only connect to the PC to transfer the setup, then connect it back to the B&O charger after testing. Transferring a couple of times can run the battery flat.
With the Beo6 especially, it can sometimes go dead and be difficult to revive.

BRONZE MemberThank’s Stoobie, I’ll pay attention.
By the way, I looked on the sticker inside the BEO and see that it is the BEO 5🙈, but I think most parts are same in the BEO 6,
except WLAN and the bigger touch screen.
2 November 2025 at 12:56 #70854 StoobieBRONZE MemberIt can sometimes happen that if a Beo5 needed a replacement screen, they would use the Beo6 screen.
2 November 2025 at 17:28 #70873 YannChrisFOUNDER MemberIn fact, everything is in the display.
So if it’s rectangular –> Beo6
If it’s a square –> Beo5

BRONZE MemberHere I am again.
I received the new battery yesterday and charged it overnight. I can then enter commands for about 20 seconds
and then the control remote switches off (Message on display “recharge battery). I have removed the red soldered cable.
I don’t know how I can remote my B&O Ouverture. The first screen shows me “Zones Standard” .
Perhaps someone has an idea to fix the problem. I have attached 2 photos.

First, your remote is a Beo5 not a Beo6.
Sourcing good batteries for these remote is quite a challenge. Some are good and will work as expected, other may run dry just after few clics.
Some that work well in one remote can last only few minutes in another remote. No solution to the problem as far as i know.If your remote has not been custom programmed you can switch it to standard mode:
In the setting menu (red dot+center key) choose “config” then you can choose between “custom” or “default”.
“Default” will load a standard config with common commands for any Beosound/Beovision/Beocenter device. Then you can use the remote while patiently learning and crafting your own program.
I’d like to add that if you only own a Beosound you’ll go into too much trouble by using this remote.
A Beo4 is a wiser choice really. I love Beo5/6 and it is really central in my setup (Sound/TV/Lights/ATv).
But I ended up with two remotes taking turn on the charger to have a least one working and in the other room where it is used, the remote is always on the cradle and when I need to use a command relying on several clics, I need to rehearse the sequence before to be sure to clic it all before the battery dies.Good luck.

BRONZE MemberThanks for your help. I now soldered the red cable and try again if the Beo5 will charge.
If not, I will sell it with the technical defect on Ebay. Perhaps there is someone who can
fix it.
