We have all heard the stories about the “barn finds,” so often embellished or simply not true. However I found a B&O Beocord 1800 described as being in very good condition in a tiny town about a 4 hour drive from here priced at $200. I was not really sure it even operated, but what I found was a NIB (New in Box) virtually unused Beocord with its complete shipping box, and User
s Guide. Trust me guys, I am not usually this lucky, but this Reel-To-Reel is in new condition and performs as well. A few smudges, that wiped right off. Even the dust cover is flawless. I was concerned about using this deck without first servicing it, but my maven B&O friend in Denmark said,
If it works, it doesn
t need lubrication or cleaning. Use it!And so I have, every week. The 1800 is the
professionalgrade, so it didn
t sell well, and is considered quite rare. It came with a clear plastic protection that I decided to keep in place as it enhances the appearance, to me. Just wanted to share.-
