I have replaced BV8 with Samsung TV and Beosystem 3. This is master to a BeoCenter 2 in the same room. I have Beosound 9000 in another room connected with cat 5? cable. When I had the BV8 working I could press DVD on Beo4 and play whatever disc was in  Becocenter 2 and press CD which would fire up the BS9000 and play the CD from there. This does not seem to happen now as when you press CD it plays the disc in the Beocenter 2.

Just wondering if anyone has any idea why this is happening.

How is the Beocenter 2 conencted to the BV8, by Scart or by Masterlink and do you use the DVD in the BC2 to watch films or just for CD listening?

Did you change the cabling when you replaced the BV8 with the Beosystem 3 or is it the same cables that connect to the BS9000 and the BC2?

    Thank you for your reply.

The BC2 is connected to Bs3 by SCART and Masterlink and the BC2 is usually used to play DVD’s or Cd’s if you press DVD on the BEo4. If you press CD on the Beo4 you should get the other room BS9000 to play which its does not do now.

The cabling is the same as I used before.

Ok. I do not see the need for Masterlink between the Bv8 and the BC2 (and also it will make conflict between BC2 and BS9000) with this usecase, so I would suggest you try to unplug Masterlink from the BC2 (power down all devices before you do that)and see if anything changes

One other note for information. DVD sound is tranfered via SCART between BC2 and BV8

Sorry a bit of confusion. There is no BV8 in the equation as this is toehold TV that has been replaced by a Samsung!

It is BC2 BS3 and BS9000 that are plugged together with the 9000 cabled in another room. It is this 9000 for playing CD’s that will not take any commands from the main room. It used to work with the BV8-40 but will not with the BS3.

I tried your trick of removing the Masterlink for the BS3 but it made no difference.

DVD in BC2 is connected to BS3 via SCART and does work with the Masterlink removed as you suggested, but it worked before. This is a real conundrum and very annoying.

Thank you for your suggestion as I am willing to try anything to get it working again.

My bad. I meant that I do not see a need for Masterlink between BC2 and BS3 in this usecase.

You might try to redo the option settings for the Beossytem 3:

    • Be sure that the entire system is in standby
    • Hold down standby + list on the BEO4
    • The text in the display should change.
    • Press the list button until OPTION is shown in the display and press GO
    • Press list until VIDEO is shown in the display, then press 2 and GO
    • The red LED on the IR eye should blink once to confirm it has received the change

This should make sure that the Beosytem 3 receives both VIDEO and Audio commands as it should.

My BS9000 seems to have just given up the ghost and will not play CD’s any more so I will take up this discussion once I get it going again. Many thanks for the suggestions.

BTW I did disconnect the Masterlink and it has worked eventually I think.
