Just admiring my latest purchase, the Beocenter 9500, and got to thinking it was a shame the engineers didn’t build in a VU meter similar to that on the Beocord 6500.
I think there’s space to fit one in above the cassette deck. And it could be multi-functional to switch between VU meter and volume level.
And if the multi-function element was too tricky I also think the style from the Beocord 3500/4500 would look cool too.
When I sit in the evenings the lighting of the BC9500 is sooooo cool! It’s like an enormous control panel akin to something from Star Trek 😎
…..I’m now on the lookout for a suitable Beogram without a built-in RIAA 🙄

I just set the cassette to record pause and BY JINGO there IS a level meter!!!!!
Why did they disable it during playback? If anyone from Beoworld can share a secret button press combo to activate the level meter during playback I’ll post them a Twix!

I recommend a BG 9500, then the single BeoCenter will become a BeoSystem 9500 😄! Another choice may be the BG 3000, fitting in style and color. I tried the 3300 and RX2, both working, but without remote control (which does not really matter to me), and design wise not a good fit.
Not sure if you found the level meter function by looking through the manual or trying the different functions? I did not know about it (thank you for this one 👍). Checking the manual, it explains that the recording function standardwise will be operated via „Auto Record Level“. This automatic function might be the explanation for not being displayed permanently? It can be switched to manual adjustment, my German manual describes it on pages 24 and 25.
Hoping to find a „secret button combo“, I checked the product booklet of the 9500, unfortunately it did not give additional insight.
Enjoy your great machine!
Kind regards,
Rolf

That’s a bit dissapointing since all the gorgeous pictures in catalogs are with the meters on.

Hi Rolf – thank you for your reply. You know what I was very surprised at its size too. I foolishly assumed it would only a little deeper than a BM3500/4500! Ha! How wrong?!!! 😄
I must accept that yourself and @Matador are right in that the level meters are for recording only.
But. Imagine. What if B&O decide the BC9500 is the next model to be given the ‘reimagination’ treatment?
A little suggestion at the factory and it’ll become reality 🤪😄👍Location: Kent, UKFavourite Product: Beosystem 6500My B&O Icons:2 October 2025 at 05:19 #70046Mike
BRONZE MemberPlease Help
Hi, I just bought a Beocenter 9000. Was able to fix all the problems it had except one. On the first several tracks of CD (higher speed) there is a whistling noise coming from the motor, then starting from track #4 it runs OK. Any thoughts how to fix this. Thanks
