To be fair:
This is not a problem of B&O equipment it is a common and known problem of LiOn batteries.
They degenerate over the years, become chemical and electrical instable. Remember for example the Samsung Note 7(?) phones where they had massive problems with burning phones and airlines prohibited to take these phones on flights. Exploding Apple airpods, e-bike batteries etc.
This is a common problem of LiOn and LiPo battery cells – which nobody wants to have officialy in the news. Blowing up is the first stage of fault and the next is smoke and fire.
Had those bad experiences over the years on MP3 players, Laptops, phones and PDAs.
That’s the reason why I will not buy an electric car:
Imagine sitting on a 600kg LiOn Battery “expanding” or worse due to faults or aging processes of that bomb under everybodys seat in the car.
No thanks. 🙂
Even for the fire service these things are a problem: The german fire department uses cranes to put burning electrical cars in a big container of water/fluids and just floods the car. They can’t do anymore since lithium doesn’t care about water trying to extinguish it.
