BRONZE Member<!–more–>Hi passionate people,
I’m a bit desperate: after years of assembling my favourite B&O setting.. it is not working.
what I have:
Beogram 5000 + Beomaster 5000 + cx100 speakers
The turntable is running, on phono, but no sounds come out of it… there is also a very electrical interference when touching the turntable ( like it is missing ground connection)
has anyone experienced something similar?
👾
thanks!!👾
Edoardo

ModeratorHi Edoardo,
Do the Beomaster turns on?
Do you have sound from any other sources (Radio or tape if you can try it with a player like your phone)?
Have you sound from the headphones?
How are your speakers connected?
You should also have two jumpers on the sockets next to the tape connectors, do you have them?

BRONZE MemberHi Matador,
yes, everything turns on. I don’t know how to connect headphones or the phone as I don’t see a mini jack entance.
the speakers are connected as in the pic here ( just need to add the left one but does not change).. there is only a buzz sound coming out putting on phono

ModeratorThe headphones socket is in the command that opens when you push the dedicated side of the front panel. There you can also start a radio to see if it sounds. I suspect you didn’t read the manual since you can’t find the headphone socket: you should find it (available here in Beoworld for silver and gold members) and read it carefully. Those units are old and sometimes have a different handling than moderns sound devices.
There is no dedicated mini jack entrance to connect your phone (again, its an old device from a time phones were not media players). You must use a mini jack to twin RCA wire and connect it to the Tape 2 ou CD input.
So far it is complicated to tell if your problem comes from the amp or from the deck.
Also know that BM5000 is a wonderful piece of hardware (even more with the rights speakers), but nowadays they are often faulty.
