    Hi all,

I want to touch on a topic I’ve seen mentioned a number of times here an on other forums.

A huge qualm people seem to have with the BC Core is that it ONLY works with speakers with a Powerlink connection, with no wireless options built-in. At launch this was correct, however they have since added a significant feature: ability to add TWO speakers via wired or wireless digital powerlink. Signals are still only processed in stereo, but it will upmix to available speakers. This opens up many possibilites like these, and more:

    1. Using the Core with more than two speakers. You could have a pair of Beolab 8000s connected on one side of the room via PL, and a pair of Emerges on the other side to fill in the space.
    2. Adding extra speakers to a Beosound Shape. Since the shape uses the COMM port, not the PL port, you can connect two additional speakers via wired PL, and/or two MORE speakers via DPL.
    3. Wireless TV speakers. Lets say you cant run wires from your TV to your Beolab 8s. You can connect the TV to the Core via HDMI, then connect the 8s wirelessly to the Core via DPL, then the core will pass the TV audio signal with no delay. This can also be done with speakers that dont have a PL input, such as BS2 or A9.
    4. Wireless aux input. Lets say you have a pair of speakers in your living room, and want to add a turntable or CD player on the other side of the room, and dont have a way to run the phono cable to the speakers. Connect the turntable (with phono preamp) to the Core’s analog input, then connect your speakers to the core via DPL.

An important note about DPL with any product (BC Core, Premiere, Theatre): When a speaker is connected to a product using DPL, it will no longer be available in the product list in the app. The connected device takes over control of these speakers, so in these scenarios you will stream music and such using the Core, not the individual speakers. With the Sound Centers, you can still use the individual speakers using listening positions.
