JULIEN BRISSET
BRONZE MemberHello everyone,
I have restored a Beogram 1203: removed the old grease, lubricated the bronze bearings, changed the belt, etc.
I have a problem with the idler wheel, which wobbles up and down whether it is turned by hand or in contact with the bevel gear.
It seems to be slightly warped.
However, I replaced it with a new remanufactured part, cleaned off the old grease and lubricated the small plastic caps at the top and bottom that hold the axle in place. As a result, the rotation speed oscillates between 33.32 and 33.35 RPM, with the latter figure changing constantly due to this problem, I suppose.
I can’t figure out where the problem is coming from…
I’m posting a video. If anyone has any bright ideas, I’d love your help.

ModeratorBonjour Julien,
Problem looks like obvious and the solution too: replace the idler wheel. Forum Sponsor Danish Soundparts, beside being a sponsor is also the best B&O spare parts provider and may help you. “May” because I remember that kind of part is quickly sold out but it worth a try.
Another lead: find a technique or someone able to flatten the wheel. It happens sometimes to find solutions thinking “out of the box” and it may exists one. If so, please come back to us and share your experience.
Good luck.
