    Hey all,

I am a SWE with a passion for design, located in Europe (CH/IT). I’m looking to “compose” my first B&O system on a budget of around €1,000-€1,500 and have been exploring some of the classic older speakers. I’ve completely fallen in love with the iconic design of the Beolab 8000 and have in my eyes on a pair of Beolab 8002 (2012)

My goal is to integrate them seamlessly with my tv, but also use them to play music in the living room.

Here’s the setup I have in mind:

    • TV: A modern LG TV with HDMI eARC/ARC.
    • Speakers: A pair of Beolab 8002 (placed on either side of the TV)
    • Streamer/Hub: WiiM Ultra
    • Future Subwoofer: I hope to add a Beolab 11 or Beolab 2 down the line.

I chose the WiiM Ultra specifically because it has an HDMI ARC input and a dedicated subwoofer output, which seems ideal. However, as I’m new to the world of B&O connectivity, I could really use your expert advice on the cables and setup. I know of the B&O’ proprietary devices, but i was looking for more affordable/generic alternatives.

Here are a few questions I’m hoping you could help with:

    1. Connecting the Speakers: What is the absolute best way to connect the Beolab 8002 to the WiiM Ultra? Which cables and ports would you recommend to ensure they switch on and off automatically with the TV and streamer? Do i need to use the trigger output as well?
    2. Volume Control: Since my LG TV has HDMI-CEC (SimpLink), will I be able to control the volume of the speakers directly with my standard TV remote through the WiiM connection if i use HDMI Arc?
    3. Adding a Subwoofer: Am I right that the WiiM’s dedicated sub-out will make it easy to add a subwoofer later?
      • How would I connect a Beolab 11 to this system, and what specific cable would I need?
      • What would be the best cable option for a Beolab 2 instead?
      • Do you have suggestions about which one of the 2 to purchase? I like the Beolab 11 the most (look-wise) but I heard mixed reviews about it.

Thank you all in advance for sharing your knowledge.
