BRONZE MemberHello, greetings from USA.
I decided to repair my dad’s old Beocord 8004 that’s been sitting in the garage for the longest time. Cosmetically it’s in great shape.
when I put a tape in and press play, the tape head engages for a second and snaps back right away. here is a video
couple other things I noticed was
when I power on the unit (not standby mode), the unit makes a very subtle buzzing sound.when I press eject, the metal door pops up quite slowly. I’ve seen other Beocords on youtube and they seem to snap up rather pretty quickly. here is a video.
I’m planning to disassemble it and look inside to see if it’s just a belt issue or not.
is there a way to test the motor before I take this thing apart?
if the motor has gone bad, are these motor parts easy to source now days? I’m assuming belts are still obtainable.
thank you in advance.
