      Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum, this is my first post. I have recently added to my Beoworld a pair of used Beolab 6000 speakers, in decent cosmetic shape, but the woofer drivers clearly need to be replaced. I am not planning on repairing them (re-surounding them), I would like to find replacement parts. I find some on ebay, used but in apparent good condition, however they are too expensive (350$) for my current budget. I was wondering whether it is possible to simply replace them with comparable specs drivers. I am quite handy, so I can probably adapt the casing to fit if needed, etc…

Does anyone know the specs of the those woofers, and a good source to buy comparable ones ?

      Thanks much,

      Amine.

Beolab 6000 woofers unfortunately have a specific design specially made for this speaker box, speaker frame glued and molded into a custom holder. Replacing it with a normal speaker that requires you to adjust the mounting plate seems almost impossible to me. Also I don’t think they are available with a suitable size en power range and impedance, the reason that B&O had them specially produced.

If you so quite handy as you say, just provide them with new rubber edges, total material cost maybe € 30,-

Otherwise it will simply be € 350,- for 4 brand-new speakers or used ones on Ebay refurbished by someone else for less than half  that amount.

          Thanks Leon,

I am going to hold off on changing anything for now, because I discovered something else that changes everything: when I use the 6000s with my beocenter 9500, they seem to suffer, they vibrate too much, the result is poor, which is why I was thing of refurbishing or changing the drivers…

BUT: when I use them with my phone through a bluethooth adapter, they work beautifully, become powerful again and produce beautiful sound. My 9500 has a powerlink output probelm I think, because through the analog outputs it produces very nice sound throuh my beovox RL-60s…Somehow I wish I could use the 6000s as passive not active 😉

Does anyone agree with my assessent, and/or has encountered similar issues ?

          Thanks,

          Amine.
