Hey everyone,
Pround new owner of an SC80. It’s in okay shape, but needs a good cleaning/oiling and has some discoloration from what I am assuming was water. So far I have only removed and cleaned the sliders and vacuumed the rest with a horse hair brush.
I don’t have a lot of experience with wooden furniture, so any input would be amazing.
What is the best process to remove years of dust and a bit of dirt? Any advice on fixing the discoloration? I’m not super keen on sanding and refinishing the whole thing, can it at least be brought back to life with some fresh oil?The aluminum edges seem slightly yellow, like they were coated with something perhaps, is this standard? The sliders are either rusting in areas, or the black paint is rubbing off easily, do they need sanded and repainted black?
Thanks all,
Jacob
