      Hi,

I need some advice regarding PowerLink wiring. Is a PowerLink cable necessary to fully utilize a BeoSound 9000 (MK3), BeoLab 8000 (MK1), and BeoLab 2? Or is a 5DIN cable sufficient?

In addition to this, I hear a slight noise coming from the speakers. It’s noticeable when the system is active but no sound is playing. Has anyone else experienced this? I would like to know what steps I could take to eliminate the noise.

      Thanks in advance!

      This is my setup:

      The background:

In my house, I have a BeoSound 9000 (MK3), four BeoLab 8000 speakers (MK1), and one BeoLab 2 subwoofer. When building the house, I installed a 4.2mm diameter PowerLink cable and a 230V power cable inside the walls, running from the BeoSound 9000 to all four BeoLab 8000 speakers. However, I’m unsure about the exact MK version of the PowerLink cable. Could you clarify? (The idea of installing the 230V cable alongside the PowerLink cable was to ensure that all the BeoLab 8000 speakers share the same electrical phase as the BeoSound 9000.)

At the locations of the BeoLab 8000 speakers, I custom-made wall sockets with a C7 power connector and an 8-pin DIN connector. See the attached image for reference. To connect from the wall sockets to the BeoLab 8000 speakers, I’ve used a 5-pin DIN audio cable and a C7-to-C8 cable for 230V power.

This week, I purchased a BeoLab 2 to enhance the audio experience with more dimension. I’m wondering if I can use a 5-pin DIN cable to connect the BeoLab 2, or if I need to upgrade the cables between the wall sockets and my BeoLab 8000 speakers as well as the BeoLab 2. I recall reading somewhere that the BeoLab 2 could recognize and connect to both the BeoLab 8000 speakers and the BeoSound 9000, but I’m not certain if this is correct.
