Hi
My Beolab 18s which are connected directly to my Denon 3700 go too quickly into standby mode. I couldn’t even do the Audessey calibration because they going into standby during the process.
When watching a film/series and there is only speech going through the centre speaker for say 15 seconds, the red lights comes on the 18s and they shutdown only to power up once sound goes through them again.
Anyone else have a problem with this? Is the solution to buy a transmitter 1 as an intermediary as that might leave enough humming noise or something through the 18s to not going into standby? Alternatively is there a way to set the standby to a few minutes at least?
Appreciate any help as it is driving me nuts!

16 January 2025 at 17:16 #62803I had the same issue with the 18’s when connected to a Marantz Receiver connected directly without the transmitter. I basically had to run the calibration over and over and eventually they wouldn’t time out before the Audessey finished.
The whole timing out during a movie never really happened to me though. That must be frustrating.
I had this setup for years and it worked great. But when I got my BS Theatre the 18’s sounded 10x better than they ever did hooked up to the Marantz system. So if it’s in your budget you might want to consider it. Plus you can get rid of the transmitter too.
16 January 2025 at 19:12 #62808Thanks for reply. I’m actually looking at the BS Theatre and my finances to see if it is a match made in heaven! So you have the 18s, BS Theatre for the front, and what do you have at the back? Do you go from BS theatre to TV or do you have a receiver still that you go through? I’m quite useless at all this but I have a friend who is good at it but BO is new to him so he is learning too. I kind of knew that if I dipped my toe into the world BO through the 18s soon I would have to just completely jump in and that it will be costly.
17 January 2025 at 19:16 #62843Hello,
Yes I have 18’s in the front and BL3’s in the back. Luckily when you have the Theatre you get rid of any receiver as the theatre handles it all. Its so much more seamless than using separate receivers and power amplifiers.
