Hi!
I haven’t upgraded my B&O system in 17 years. Now it’s time for a little upgrade…
WHAT DO I NEED…
…TO CONTROL MY BEOLAB 9 SPEAKERS AND TV INSTEAD OF MY OLD BEOSOUND 4?I have:
1x BeoSound 4 (2007)
2x BeoLab 9 (2007)
2x Beo4 remotes
TV: LG 49″ 4K UHD LED Smart TV (49UJ701V)BACKGROUND
For years, I haven’t been able to use the BeoSound 4 as anything but a control unit. The CD player gave up years ago, and the one repair I had done was expensive and didn’t last very long. My Beo4 remotes suffered from intermittent faults, so I stopped using them as well.Everything has been connected to the BeoSound 4, including the BeoLab 9 speakers and additional audio sources like the TV.
CHALLENGE
I’d like to use something other than my old BeoSound 4 as a control unit, but what? I’ve done a bit of research and came across the BeoSound Core, but it doesn’t seem like the right solution. I’ve been using PowerLink cables for my BeoLab 9 speakers so far, but I don’t see a PowerLink input on the BeoSound Core? Thanks in advance for your advice!
Best regards,
Kim9 January 2025 at 19:34 #62467You do not need a PL input – you need a PL output to connect the BL9’s to.
Furthermore – if you want the sound from the LG tv – you best buy the new Beosound Core Connect, which has a HDMI/ARC input for the HDMI output labelled ARC/eARC on the tv.
You will not be able to control the tv with a B&O remote (the Beoremote One/BT), however you can control the sources of the Core Connect. Alternatively you could use the Bang &Olufsen app for this.
P.S. You will need adapter cables (RJ45 to DIN-female Powerlink) to connect the BL’s to the Core Connect.
