Lubricated damper with silicon grease ( youtube video link ). Grease is very thick and damper therefore doesn’t move very fast even with air adjustment screw fully removed. Result is
- tone arm drop > 1s which isn’t an issue
- tone arm up is slow as well as the solenoid can’t compress the damper fast enough. So the arm is already moving as the tone arm is rising. Don’t want to scratch the record this way.
Using light oil instead of silicon grease fixed everything. 1s drop, instant tone arm up when press stop.
Anyhow, all working fine now. Just not sure how people using thicker silicon grease can get that damper to move so fast.
