Beolab 8 Wisa surround 4.0

Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum, came here to discuss my possible 4.0 setup consisting of four Beolab 8 speakers (two front and two rear).

The idea is to get the Platin Audio Surround Hub X as a WISA transmitter and pair all 4 Beolab speakers. It’s a streamer and hub in one, it will allow me to hook my non-BO TV as well. It should be compatible with any WISA HT speaker on the market, at least that’s what they say.

Is this option possible at all? Secondly, would using this hub allow me to retain the room correction profile for all the speakers?

Found my answers elsewhere and also changed my mind in regards to the setup, so instead of going for 4 Beolab 8’s, I placed an order for a pair of 28’s (for the fronts), and a pair of 8’a (for the surround speakers).

Just an update: I purchased a pair of 28’s (front speakers) and a pair of 8’s (rear speaker), all controlled via WISA through the Platin Audio surround X hub. It’s a very reliable WISA hub, able to decode every single format you throw it (Atmos and DTS:X included) and accurately map the sound to the speakers, depending on the selected layout (in my case it’s 4.0). It also allows for room correction of the speakers (it works in pairs, first one needs to do the measurements for the fronts, and then for the rears). For 500€ it’s a no brainer device for anyone who does not have a Theatre in their setup.

Indeed that can be used as an alternative to the full Theatre experience…..if you rely on wireless/WiSA speakers.

Main problem that I see with you setup is, that you do not have a center channel in the mix.

Yes, that is true. However, I keep the 28’s in narrow mode when watching movies, and they project beautiful center image by themselves, so I don’t feel the lack of center. I sit some 3.5m away from my 77 LG G3, and the center is excellent in dialogues. The rear 8’s are in wide mode.

Important thing to note is that B&O room compensation is not active when the speakers are driven via WISA. However, this “shortcoming” is easily mitigated by the Platin built in room correction algorithm which includes a 60 second measurement process of the entire room for the front and rear pair separately. It can be done with an iPhone or with a Zen microphone by Primare, and works really well.

hello，where is the setting of  room correction in the wisa send app, I just cannot find it.

I am not using the Sounsend app so I can’t say. I am not sure it even has room correction.

When using the Platin Surround hub, there is a Platin generic app that can be used for this purpose, or any of the apps from other manufacturers that rely on Platin hubs (like Buchardt, System Audio, Econic). They all work. It’s basically the same app for all of them, just the logos are different.

But then again, you need a Platin Audio hub for that, not Soundsend.

As far as I know, this room correction SW is two channel aka stereo only.

I am not sure that ‘room correcting’ seperately for two sets of speakers is optimal for a multichannel/surround setup.
