Dear All B&O users. I have been off the B&O line for some time, say years and now got back into it. As such and to upgrade my system, I purchased the Beosound Core. This will allow streaming for legacy products I have such as BS9000 hooked up to BL8000, etc. There is also a BV7-55  to add to the mix. All working well. (Even refoamed the BL8000!!!)

To the point of asking you fellas. What is the point with B&O Sound Core vis-a-vis the B&O Sound Essence. I can see the difference in size and release dates but what else is different?

I dont really understand the Core and how B&O can release such product with utter poor documentation. It is in my view someting that Struer people bought from a cheap source and re-labled. (sorry the rant) Have a go at any of B&O’s other products and you get proper documentation. So back to Essance and Core what is the point with Core??? Many thanks for your attention

The BS Core is a slightly updated Essence  MK2 with a somewhat newer hardware and (pribably) longer span for becoming updates.
It has an optical port (a combo port with analog).
The form factor was made so that it can fit into a tile of the Shape setup.
It is meant to be hidden away.

It offers very much the same functionality as was built-in to the other audio products based on the ASE platform at the time of their launch.
It works well with the Beolink ecosystem, is controlled via the B&O app, the Beoremote One/bt or simply streamed to via AP2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect….
It still gets updates – just like the Essence MK2.

What kind of documentation are you looking for?

I recently purchase two Essence Mk2’s over a core for 2 main reasons

          1. The essence is MUCH MUCH cheaper
          2. The essence has TWO power link ports which I absolutely need

Many thanks for response from Millemissen and Severed hand of Skywalker.
Your response is what I needed. I.e. not a lot of difference between them, however BS Essence much cheaper with good coherent, old style B&O documentation.
The Essence for me would be a better option as it has RCA inputs. The Core do optic and line in via 3.5mm minijack that’s fine but I’d like the RCA straight in for say record player or RtR kit.
In terms of documentation, its basically non-existent. You will need to dig deep to find for example as you say the remote control that can be used. (Essence and BO Remote1) that can be used. Where are the classic link diagrams???

Anyway, thanks for the feedback. All the best from London/UK.

              I have 4 of those.
The first one I bought on the day of launch, as soon as I recognized the potential….the Beolink Multiroom function. It replaced my Playmaker.
My migration from Masterlink towards Network Link had started.

As for the other 3 that came afterwards – they are all second hand.
              I never concidered the Core.
The Essences are hidden away with sets of speakers connected and do what I expect respectively what I need in my setup…….together with my two M3’s, the M5, my Theatre/LG combo, my small V1/5.1 setup and my old System 6500 (plus several BROnes and Essence Remotes).
              They are here to stay!

I have no need for a ‘documentation’ – I need what they offer for my listening habits.

My Essence’s are hidden away mounted under my shelf where I never have to see or touch it which I like.

On one of them I have the BeoSound 9000 connected to it though RCA.

On the other I have my turntable connected as well as an essence remote.

In 2 years of daily use for countless hours neither one of them has given me a single problem.
