I have bought a Beosound 5, with Beomaster 5 1TB version. I also got a Beo 4 (I think 1625 with EE. 4.2). I have set it up and connected it to a Beolab 3500 through masterlink.
My issue is that it gets an ip but refuses to connect to the internet (or even spotify).I have tried setting it up as Role 0 or 2 (As it is a fully independent system), but the network settings do not appear on the menu. I connected the second DVI to an external screen and tried pressing Menu 9 on the Beo 4, but it does nothing.
I tried resetting the Beo 4, but it has no such option, when I press STDBY + List. Only Add, Config, Remove, Option.
I can listen to music already on the Beomaster, but that is about it. Cannot connect to PC (Beoplayer or Beoconnect), so cannot really transfer, add or change anything.
Anyone knows how to access the service menu indicated in the manual, as the combination of Menu 9 for the Beo 4, does nothing (well it does open the timer on the Beolab, so that is something).
7 October 2023 at 08:58 #49469Hello Pontios, nice system!
You can access the service menu (on the BeoSound 5) like this:
User/service/installation manuals are on the Beoworld site for Silver and Gold members ;-), recommended!
I don’t use BeoConnect etc to place music, from my Mac I connect to the BM5’s IP address and copy files on the drive.
Good luck!

7 October 2023 at 10:00 #49470Thank you Tignum. I do have the service manuals and tried to follow them, but I get no response from the Beosound through the Beo 4.
Also, as you can see from the photos below, I do not have the needed menus available. Neither Service menu nor Network settings. And I can find no way to activate them.
I am close to doing a recovery reset on the Beomaster, to see if that will fix it.
I did get it like this from the seller.7 October 2023 at 12:05 #49471Hi again pontios,
When I follow the instructions in my previous post, I get to this screen:
Maybe this helps you further.
I am not sure what you want to do with the Beo4 when it comes to setting up the system. You can configure your BS5/BM5 on the BS5 itself.
I would say that your BM5 should be set as ‘Audiomaster’ and in ‘Option 0 – no IR reception’ when you only have connected the BL3500 using MasterLink.
The BL3500 in ‘Option 2 – one IR receiver in the room’ I reckon.
In your photograph they appear to be close, maybe be best to cover the IR receiver of the other device when setting the option (to avoid setting them both at the same time).
Regards, Johan
7 October 2023 at 12:35 #49472Thanks Johan. Unfortunately it is exactly the menus I am missing and cannot get for the life of me. I even changed AM role to 0 and rebooted just in case, they will appear, but in vain.
I have tried all 5 settings (0, 1, 2, 5, 6) as role, but no change except the ir working or not. I cannot even find what 5 and 6 AM roles are in any manual.I think the only way would be to do a recovery, so that it goes back to default. I just need to clone the drive first, just in case.

‘Anyone knows how to access the service menu indicated in the manual’Well, it has been a long time since I last fiddled with this.
But this is the full description for how to….
However, I am not sure if that will help you – do you use a wired network connection?

7 October 2023 at 20:34 #49474Yes, thank you. I did this a thousand times, but I only just noticed on your screenshot, that you do not choose settings, you just highlight it. And it’s right left, right left. I was doing the opposite, from being used to things like that.
Got the service menu, perfect. Time to play and see what is wrong.
7 October 2023 at 20:52 #49475Lets hear how you get along, you and the BM5…please!

9 October 2023 at 08:50 #49476Will do. Windows XP, I can work with. I just want to clone the drive first, so that I have a backup and then I will start playing like crazy. I’ll even try to update to Win 7 or more and see what happens.

It is Windows XP Embedded.
You cannot update it to W7 just like that…… I did update a Beomedia 1 to W7 Embedded once (in 2016 the year Microsoft stopped the updates for the last XP versions). Got it working with issues, then wanted to reinstall the W7 Embedded again and made a mess by losing all partitions on the HDD………end project 🙁10 October 2023 at 10:46 #49478Interesting. Can you please tell me what issues? As I already indicated, I am not touching the original drive (I am keeping it as backup) and I also made a full image, so that I can recreate it at any time.
I am going to try with Win 7 embedded but also 2009 and IoT 2016. I really got nothing to lose and as it is my profession, I enjoy playing about now that I have the Beomaster and I haven’t yet set it up.
I am sure though, that the 1GB PC5200 Ram is not going to cut it, so I am going to replace it with 4Gb if possible or worst case 2Gb.
At the end of the day, it’s just an application that runs by default, when windows loads. That’s pretty much what windows embedded/IoT does (not exactly, but close).
Will update as soon as I got clones and backup image done.16 October 2023 at 08:00 #49479Interesting. Can you please tell me what issues? I do not precise remember the issues, but it had to do with what was installed and what not of the Embedded version.
