      Hello All,

I’ve acquired a cosmetically minty Beocord 3500 but its causing me a few headaches.

most of the time it powers up but does not respond to touch inputs either with or without the glass panel (yes it was loose). On the odd occasion it does respond ok, but just no real power behind the motors. they all turn but when you put a tape in its as if there is too much friction and they aren’t strong enough to turn the tape.

I’m not sure if this is a touch control issue or something else.

I’ve been through the caps and all look to be giving good readings. i reflowed a few iffy looking joints but to no avail.

      thoughts?

        Weak power supply?
        Check power supply voltages.

What about the bigger cap for the Dolby chip right in the middle?  Not dead as usuall?

not had a chance to test the supply voltage as yet. any tips as to best practice? I’m fairly competent, but wouldn’t want to make a mistake.

i tested all the big caps first and they all check out ok. it just feels like its underpowered, so agree its caps (probably ruled out) or PSU (still to test) or …something else.

Just wondering why on the odd occasion, it powers up fine with buttons working, all be it sluggish.
