Use a pair of Beosound 1 (CD) as stereo speakers?

As the title says, would it be possible to get a good stereo sound from two original Beosound 1 on floor stands sending left signal to one and right to another, or would the way the multiple speaker setup in each, and the way the sound is dispersed mean that the stereo image would be a mess?
