BRONZE MemberI recently picked up a Beogram 4002 type 5513 – it is cosmetically in great shape, with the exception of the finish on the outside of the cover that goes over the tonearm lift mechanism. ย Something has rubbed on it over time and exposed the bare metal underneath – this is in fact the worst blemish on the whole unit, so it really stands out as an eyesore. ย I would like to refurbish the cover.
Is there any place to buy these covers, or does anyone have experience refurbishing this piece? ย I can easily fill, sand, and paint it, but am not sure I could duplicate the texture of the finish – it is much coarser than the tonearm. ย I’m also not sure how I would replace the lettering.
Alternatively, I could match the smoother finish (and color) on the tonearm – I seriously doubt anyone would be the wiser. ย But I’m still left trying to duplicate the lettering.
I’m sure others have had this issue. ย Any thoughts?
Thank you very much for your help!
Apologies for the duplicate images – I’m not sure how to edit those out.
