Hi!
Wondering if anyone here also have issue with automatic source selection with Stage connected to LG TV ( OLED G1) via ethernet cable. I do not use B&O remote, just have both connected via eARC and ethernet to have more funcionality in B&O app. Both TV and Stage are using wireless connection to the network. Ethernet is just between them.
The problem is that since last Stage FW update (2 months back or so) sometimes automatic source selection does not work. For example you turn on TV, then Stage turns on automatically via CEC. Then for example you launch Youtube and… nothing, silence.
When you go to B&O app , then using … dots in TV Remote section you can change it manually to Youtube and then it works. It happens maybe 2 out of 10 times when I turn on TV. Same issue with PrimeVideo or Netlix.
I never had this problem with previous Stage firmware. B&O helpdesk was not really helpful here. Tried to factory reset of TV, Stage, reinstalled B&O app but no luck.
Have anyone noticed something similar?
26 January 2023 at 23:13 #43346I experience the same issue on my BeoSound Stage and LG C9, but less frequently. I find it happens on both the connected Sky Q mini box, and also Apple TV 4K, about once a month.
Like you I do not use a BeoRemote but the LG OEM remote, and control the devices via CEC. Only difference is all devices are wired to an Ethernet switch.
I have found the quickest way to recover is open the LG settings > go to the Sound menu > select internal speakers… you now hear the panels speakers > then reselect the eARC option… Stage is reconnected.
There is no reason I can root cause as to why the occasional drop in sound.
I feel there has been little in the way of software updates, so I work on the basis the Stage will be either unsupported or discontinued in the future. Which if it transpires is the case will be a real shame as it is a superb Soundbar and speaker for the money.
I only wish B&O added WiSA / wired connections as for many this is all the Soundbar they will ever need and actually imo better than the Theatre (£4£) when you factor in the cost difference, and few require the Listening Positions as not on a motorised wall bracket or movement stand, and Joe Public have it flat on their wall. PUCs not required as the CEC works perfectly. This is where the Stage outperforms the Theatre, as the Theatre doesn’t support CEC.
26 January 2023 at 23:21 #43347I doubt they will ever add anything to Stage 🙂 I love the form factor, but I gess weneed to accept the fact it will be always 1 box solution. However there are HDMI splitters and extractors which possibly can split HDMI into 2 HDMI signals an then have stage and receiver conencted alltogether. Never tested it though.
I kinda lost hope as I planned to wire them, but if you say it does not fix the problem then, welll… I’ll stay with Wlan.
when have you started to experience it?
My stage was update to SW 5.3.51127 on 3.11.2022 which is pretty much when I started to experience it. Previously was running it for a year or so on 2.6.47189 and all was good. Upgrade date can be checked in B&O app.
27 January 2023 at 01:20 #43348I am also running 5.3.51127, updated 26/10/22. Come to think of it, the sound drop out is happening more frequently with this latest software, but still for me only circa once a month. Mine was installed over 3 years ago, and for the most part it has been bulletproof. It is overkill for the Kitchen but I love it. It was one of the first in the country, like my Theatre… I am a sucker for buying on launch day B&Os products.
