Hi guys,
wthout this forum i could not maintain my B&O hobby, so first of all thank YOU all for the help in the last years!
You should always give back – so here I am.
I struggled a lot with some Beocord 6500 and similar (one large belt drive).
Most often i was healed with a new belt – but even sometimes with new ones, it did not work well. Especially the fast forward and rewind function was not good.
My background is engineering – not that i know, how electronics work – but as engineer you most often don´t give up that easy if an error occurs. And you don´t believe immediately, if it suddenly works and You don´t know why.
So: i found ONE error, for sure not the only one, but the one, which was important for 4 of my beocords.
It was not the belt, it was the little white drive worm on one of the motors.
Look at yours, and when you see a little crack – this is it. It slips then on the shaft. And this stops the whole B&O mechanism.
You need to dismantle the whole piece, clean it with alcohol and the glue it with superglue. Not the slipping stops and the mechanism works how it should.
Of course, cleaning all other stuff and replacing belt is a must, but if it´s not enough – maybe this one is the last step before success.
Happy!!!!
Wish You all a pleasant nicht

25 July 2024 at 13:31 #57623Thank you! I have a Beocord 4500 with similar ff/rew symptoms, solved when I found this posting. Initially I did not see the crack in the worm gear, but after a closer inspection and ultrasonic cleaning of the gears it became visible. I assume that there are no alternatives to glueing the worm gear to the shaft?
