Hello,
Quick curiosity about the Beocord 3500.
My Dad had one which had a very fast and noisy transport engagement – it was super fast at auto reverse, but was quite clattery in operation.
I recently bought a Beocord 3500 to complete my living room set-up. This deck has a much slower and quieter mechanism, very similar to that in my old Beocord 5500 and Beocenter 9500. The auto reverse is slower but less clattery, not clattery at all in fact.So I was wondering if there was a point in time where the tape decks received a change to their transport mechanisms – to provide faster auto reverse capabilities perhaps? I mean my Dad’s old deck was so fast it was really easy to miss where the tape turned on a recording of a cd. My tape deck is clearly slower at that.
I’d be interested to hear if anyone else has noticed similar performance differences within the same line of products to a similar or different extent.
Julian
