This is a question for the B&O historians out there…

I noticed an odd thing on a Beomaster 8000 (Type 1903). The tape RCA inputs/outputs are different between two different receivers. On one receiver they are wired to Tape 1 (like is shown in the service manual), on the other they are wired to Tape 2.

Does anyone know why they made this change and when the change was made?

      Thank you,

From serial number 2554003 the monitor function was moved from TP1 to TP2.
This required a change to the slave CPU, the preamplifier and the socket panel.

          Martin,

Thank you for the information. The list of parts that changed between the two versions is helpful to know in case I ever need to swap boards between the receivers for debugging. I assume that swapping is still possible, but the results might be confusing due to mismatched displays. Hopefully, I’ll never need to try this.

I was trying to get a rough idea of what year each of my receivers was built. I know that my newer BM8000 was very late in the production cycle since it was purchased in 02/1986. I have very little information about the other one since I bought it used.

I’ve done a quick search for B&O serial number decoders, but none of the information makes sense for the serial numbers that I have.

For the older products, there is no link between serial numbers and production dates.
            Beomaster 8000 was produced 1981-83.
