BRONZE MemberHi everyone,
I recently acquired a Bang & Olufsen Beocenter 1 in beautiful condition, but I have a few issues I’d love to get help with:
**DVD Player:**
– The tray opens and closes normally
– However, discs never load — the player doesn’t recognize any DVD
– I suspect the laser lens might be dirty or worn out, but the lens is not accessible without disassembling the unit
**Motorized Rotation:**
– The Beo4 remote triggers a small noise from the motor when I try to rotate the screen, but the screen doesn’t move
– I can rotate the screen manually without issue — it’s smooth with a nice resistance, feels intentional
– The screen seems to rotate 360° freely with no hard stops — not sure if this is normal or if the stops are broken
– I’m also unsure what the original/default angle position should be
– I suspect the drive belt for the rotation motor may be broken or melted
**Questions:**
– Is the 360° free rotation normal, or should there be mechanical stops?
– How do I identify the original screen angle?
– Which drive belt reference should I look for to fix the rotation?
– Is the DVD laser accessible without full disassembly? Any tips?
Thanks in advance for your help, this unit is gorgeous and I’d love to restore it fully! 🙏
