BRONZE MemberHi all, I have setup with an Horizon, Essence and a pair of Beolab 9’s. I’ve bought and restored a Beosystem 5500 (1988’s) with all components including 2 Beovox S30’s. These speakers sound not too bad but their appearance is below par. I would like to connect this old system to the Beolab 9’s but these don’t have an aux-in, only two Powerlinks.
Option 1: I read some threads about adding Powerlink to the Beomaster 5500;
Option 2: Buy a Beomaster 6500 with Powerlink (preferred).
My question is: can I connect two sources at the same time to these Beolabs? What if both sources are playing, will I run into trouble?

GOLD MemberHi Bart,
if you choose to get a BM 6500 (or 7000), you could connect both units, the Horizon and the BM 6500 via a Powerlink switch from oneremote.dk to your BL 9. I am using two of these switches to connect my BS 3 and my BC 9500 to a pair of BL 5000 (front) and a pair 0f BL 3500 (rear) and it works like a charm. If both sources are playing, the source connected to input 1 will be prioritized over the source connected to input 2 (in my case the BC 9500).
There is also a Powerlink Aux switch at Oneremote available. I have no experience with it, but from what I can read at the website, you should be able to connect the BM 5500 directly via AUX to the switch as well as the BV via PL, and then go to the BL 9.
I have no experience with the BV Horizon as well. Is it possible to connect it via NetLink to other B&O sources? If it is, you could connect the BV to your WiFi network and connect the BM 5500 via BLC 1611 and BLC NL/ML to the same network and then join the BM and the BV. Which, of course, would be no direct connection of the two sources to the BL 9.
Enjoy your nice BeoSystem!
Kind regards,
Rolf
