• Re: Beomaster 5000 remotes

Sounds correct. Keep in mind that the only component that the remote controls *directly* is the receiver. The receiver in turn sends commands to the other components in the system thru the interconnect cable. For the heck of it I'd check to see if the Terminal 5000 is putting out an IR signal by looking at it thru a camera. If the green light is flashing it should be.

  • Re: Beomaster 5000 remotes

More likely he's talking about this , which is simply a hand-held version of the MCP 5000. It should control both receivers - no programming is necessary. Take a look at the top thru a digital camera when the green light is flashing. You should be able to see the IR signal.
according to the B&O web site, there are exactly 5 stores in the USA
Impossible - something like 22. I just used their store locator and found five just in CA.

  • Re: Beogram 6002 strange sound

It has a relatively new Soundsmith SMMC4, not an old OEM MMC-4. So I'd rethink suspension degradation. The problem might still be with the cartridge. You need to either test it out on another B&O turntable or put a known working cartridge in your turntable to compare the sound. Depending upon where you are you might find a Beoworld member willing to assist. If the problem is the cartridge you should try to find out when it was purchased. Soundsmith offers a 1-year warranty. If out of warranty

  • Re: Is this guy legit?

He's hijacking the accounts of legitimate sellers by phishing their passwords. He wants you to deal with him directly and provides his email address in the auction. If you try to contact the seller the usual way (thru eBay), you will reach the legitimate seller, who is unaware that his account has been hijacked and is being used fraudulently. Ebay has become pretty good at detecting this behavior (and often get assistance from eBay members who report the auction as fraudulent) and immediately

  • Problem with Beosound 8..

I just acquired this locally. I'm getting distortion thru the right channel. I removed the grill/fret to troubleshoot and found that the woofer is non-functional, and it seems to be sending the bass frequencies to the tiny tweeter, which is causing it to vibrate/distort. If I put my finger on the left channel tweeter, there is no noticeable vibration, which is what to be expected. So is the problem with the right channel woofer, which I can find a replacement for? Or something in the crossover

  • Re: Beosound 8 won't power up..

So embarrassed. I figured the mere act of plugging it in would cause a standby light to go on. Nope. But the minute I connected my PC to it it sprang to life. Thanks all!

  • Beosound 8 won't power up..

I've acquired a beautiful but dead-as-a-doornail Beosound 8. Has anyone else experienced this? Was the problem something simple such as a fuse or bad connection with power plug? Or something above my pay grade such as replacing the power supply? And how do you open this thing up? Thanks in advance..

  • Re: Help identifying BeoSound model for a newbie please???

You should test the sliding door mechanism with the doors attached. It's quite possible they were removed because the mechanism is defective (if it works with the doors removed does not mean it will work with the doors attached due to the added weight). It looks to be in pretty rough condition and with B&O, cosmetic condition is *very* important. You don't have the remote control I assume. Here in the States, worth maybe $400 if the doors work.
Maybe they didn't change t because of the issue but just because of a change in provider or so? If so, maybe there is an overlap due to material still being available and also new material supplied. So the assembly men and women just picked whichever they had handy. Maybe.
Highly unlikely they made the change due to the issue because the oldest pair of speakers in year 2000 (when the change was made) would have been just 3 years old.
