  • Low volume on BG4500

HI All, Now that I have an almost complete beosystem 4500 (beomaster, beogram, beogram CD + red-line 60.2, beolink 1000 + 7-pin extension cords from Steve) there is one annoying issue when listening to vinyl records: the volume is significantly lower than with other sources (be it tuner, CD or other sources on AUX). When switching to phono, I have to increase the volume by 15 or 20 units ! The beogram 4500 has an MMC4 refitted from AXEL in Germany and the sound is ok. Is there a way to increase the

  • Re: B&O red line 60 speakers without beomaster

HI, Unless your modern tv has speaker outputs (which I doubt), what you need is an amplifier (or amplifier/receiver) between your TV and the Red-lines, to "replace" your missing beomaster. How you connect the TV to the amplifier depends on what outputs are available from the TV (and inputs into the amp); most modern TVs have digital out (optical) and most modern amps have optical-in. How you connect the Red-Line to the amp should be straightforward, no adapter needed. Hope this helps T

  • Re: Another fun article on the rise of vinyl sales

I too am re-discovering the pleasure of vinyl, on my Beogram 1600 and Beogram 4500. I could easily grow a beard, if that is any indication of my age (like my B&O éléments, I am what they call a vintage system). What strikes me is that with music on files or streaming, one jumps easily from track to track after a few seconds, like a bee from flower to flower. With vinyl, the 'effort' needed to find the record, get it out of the sleeve, put the record on the turntable and

  • Re: Auditioning BeoLab 90

If I could, I would certainly listen to "Oscar Peterson - You look good to me", a beautiful piece combining slow and fast parts, with deep bass (played with and without a bow) and a dancing piano stream. From then on, it would surely be an endless day/week/month/year/life of re-discovering my favorite tracks, from Mahler - directed by Bruno Walter to Philip Glass - Songs from liquid days ... Hope those who will attend the maiden concert will enjoy it. Thierry

  • Re: Beomaster 1900 or 3500 - any recommendations?

Hi, I suggest you go for both at that price! Sound is warmer on the 1900, while the 3500 is much more practical ... Buying both will keep you safe in case one fails and during the repairs. Thierry

  • Re: USA Vinyl Sales 2013

As I rediscover LPs, I sure agree about the ritual surrounding using a turntable. But, to be honest, I think we tend to forget about the ritual that existed at the beginning of the CD era: 1- turn on the CD-player and wait for that hour-long drawer to open ... 2- open the ( then new) CD jewel box ( not to mention the real pleasure of getting a new one out of its cellophane envelope) 3- wait for the hour-long drawer to close, the various indicators to light up until finally the first song would play
