  • Re: Roon

I have to say Roon is amazing. It is ROCK SOLID (if you run it on a Roon Nucleus which I highly recomend). I have had two nucleus’s (for 2 different places) and I have restarted them maybe twice in 3 years. I airplay to most B&O speakers, Chromecast to one or two (if i never need it to grouped into another zone). In my opinion B&O should do a deal with them, make their hardware native, and include it in all systems above a certain price. They would save MILLIONS on support issues compared

  • Re: Core with 3rd party amp & speakers - keeping it in the family

Two B&O Passive Amps seem like an inexpensive way to go. Does anyone know how many versions there were of this amp. What would be the latest version. Several for sale on Ebay. Thank you as always Philip

  • Core with 3rd party amp & speakers - keeping it in the family

Doing up a country house. Most rooms B&O have a good solution (M5, beocenter 1, A6, A9 etc) However I have 3 zones where I need to use 3rd party speakers (in ceiling, outdoor, and traditional mcintosh speakers) Ideally I would like to hook these up so all accessible with B&O app so could use a core (or an old essence mark2) but it would need to run into an amp of some sort. Does anyone have advice or a decent compact amp (that powers on automatically upon signal) to use between core and speaker

  • Re: Essence MKII vs Core

Martin, Thank you for your reply. I have had a few B&O techs out to the house but they are often as mystified as I am. I am hoping that getting rid of the 'phantom' zone will solve the problem - as the greatest stability seemed to be before it appeared. Do you know where the 'zone list' is saved? Is it saved on every single device and then tries to replicate itself around to all other devices? Is that what checking and unchecking 'beolink' does - "clear the cache"

  • Re: Essence MKII vs Core

The only issue with Airplay II is that it won't turn the TV's on, and as the main living room system is a Avant with speakers it sort of defeats the purpose. Otherwise your idea is one I have considered (I have also considered just running Roon - which is very good and can use the Essences as either chormecast or airplay 2 endpoints)

  • Re: Essence MKII vs Core

All the network is Meraki. Nothing has really changed on the networking side (besides various firmware updates from Meraki that I am not sure what they do..) Good idea to try and run all the wired zones (only 3 non wired zones) and see what happens. Back to the core questions - does anyone know if the core is different than the Essence MKII or is is just a different form factor running the identical software?

  • Essence MKII vs Core

I have a multilane house with 8 Essene MK II (and 5 all in one speakers A9, M5, etc...) Two Avant NG with Essence as well. I have never been able to get the system really stable. Constant problems. 3 times out of 5 Music "Can't be added to this playlist". Reboot sometimes helps, sometimes doesn't. BeoTool shows a 'phantom zone' (2 zones named Living Room, 1 is live, the other is an old setup) that is impossible to delete. Also the only way to play music on the TV's is

  • Re: Beolab 5 issue

Dear Lawrence, I had the EXACT same issue with a brand new pair of lab 5 that I purchased back in 2007. I tried to get the B&O store where I purchased them to repair them under warranty several times but finally gave up because they were so rubbish at customer service. Upon moving to a new house last year, I contacted B&O UK and to their credit once managed to get to a person of authority they took responsibility and eventually got them to repair the problem. Unfortunately (for your) this
