This is great news - looking forward to ordering a board when they are ready - I’ve been following your progress since you first posted on Reddit

  • Re: Opportunity to talk directly with Bang & Olufsen...

I’d be interested in completing the survey- my main gripe is dropping the ml/nl converter from the lineup, it is such a great product and opens up a lot of possibilities for NL users to access iconic vintage kit, as well as integrate non B&O kit via the aux in.

  • Re: Some buttons of Beo4 still working, others not

I’ve previously repaired broken foil tracks on these using thin strips of tin foil. It’s very fiddly to do but I’ve been successful on two remotes. Are replacement foils still available- would save me some time if any of my others go wrong!

  • Re: Getting RDS data from Beomaster 7000

There is a ‘soft button’ on the BeoLink 7000 to request an update Source -> Status which should refresh all data (presumably including the RDS info) so if you send that hex code over the datalink presumably all the relevant info would come back. Of course you’d need to capture and decode it but it sounds like you understand the MCL protocol anyway

  • Re: Beovision 7-40- How do I make the DVD multi-regional?

As Keith says, you need a special version of the Beo4 to set the region. You can programme the appropriate hex codes to a beo5/6 as he has described. In addition, if you have a masterlink or BeoLink gateway you can just send the appropriate commands to the Beovision with a macro. I’ve documented that procedure on the forum previously.

  • Re: Beomaster 6500/7000 Backup battery replacement

I don’t know the answer - but perhaps the difference in the 6500/7000 documentation relates to the presence of an RDS chip in the 7000. I recall the 6500 didn’t have one as standard (but I may be wrong)?

  • Re: Where to download latest Beoplay V1 firmware and PUC'

Quite, although I think the issue is that with the old firmware you cannot access the download portal even if the TV is connected via Ethernet/WiFi. Once the firmware is updated via USB the you’ll be able to download PUC tables just fine. I’m not sure why the old firmware is unable to connect to the download portal, but from experience I know it cannot. I think your best option is to contact B&O and request the latest firmware via a support ticket. For some reason it is not on their

  • Re: Beoplay v1 software update

Apologies all - I’ve not been on the forum for a while a didn’t realise there were so many people looking for this. I’ll check to see if I still have the update on a USB stick somewhere. In the meantime I’d suggest contacting B&O support. The download was still available when I wrote the originals post, but I see the page has now been taken down from the B&O site. Assuming I still have it, is there anywhere on the Beoworld site I could upload the file?

  • Re: Beovision 7-40

From a previous thread “ Dear all, just to say a huge thank you to Keith and all involved in working out the correct hex value for the DVD REG2 command. The relevant command is FC Hex or 252 in decimal. I set my DVD player on my Beovision 7-32 to region free via the masterlink gateway - an alternative approach to the special Beo4 or a correctly programmed Beo5/6. All you need to do is send code 'FC' to the relevant masterlink node. I did this using the excellent MLGW plugin that PhilLondon

If you have a MLGW or BLGW there is a simple key sequence you can send via masterlink to set it region free
