  • Re: Bang & Olufsen are closing down TV-production in Struer

I think moving production out of Denmark is incredibly sad but I think we all want to see B&O recover from its recent financial and business difficulties. I honestly don't think they have any choice especially after 50 staff were made redundant earlier this year from Struer. As for moving to production another country I am not entirely convinced that quality will be retained. I read on the Naim forum that they went through a short spell of trying to manufacture some of their products in New

  • Re: Best approach for a new audio system in 2014?

Can a pair of active Beolabs be set to accept a variable line sigal from the preamp output of a streamer then? How come you have haven't gone down this route yet? Are there other reservations you have?

Yes Puncher, Great minds think alike. I had considered the Cambridge Magic 6 too but then it crossed my mind that if i get this i will need two separate remotes to a) operate the streamer b) change the volume with a b&o remote and that put me off this solution somewhat. it's the same problem with getting the Naim NDS streamer with no volume control. .

  • Re: BV 11 MK2

Christer, the BV11 is definitely not old and is fresh off the production. In the general scheme of products it's as new as they get. All TV manufacturers bring out new TV models in January/February every year and thew new model is marginally different from teh one before and in fact very similar to the ones in the last 2-3 years. Don't be fooled into changing your TV every year or even two. In fact i would say that unless you have a real hunger for 3D there's not a signficant reason to

  • Re: A decision - thoughts appreciated

Pushkin, I have just opened a thread myself and in it we discuss the merits and weaknesses of the BL5. From owning the BL5 myself i would say that BL5 would be overkill for a kitchen/dining area where the most you will use is 320kbps via a playmaker. You also need to consider all the hard surfaces in a ktichen with it's hard floors - lots of echoes and lack of absorbent material will ruin the sound no matter which speaker you use. I would say that a BL9 with a good blend of quality and power

  • Best approach for a new audio system in 2014?

Dear Beoworlders, I hope you can help or offer some pearls of wisdom...? I am after an audio set-up, have a few requirements and have heard of this playmaker thingeymebob device but not sure it will do the job... I used to have a Beosound 5 but after several years of owning it I was less than impressed. I got progressively more impatient and annoyed by the wheels that controlled the blue pointer. Friends and family never figured it out and were equally as annoyed. I was also less than impressed with

  • Re: What made you stop?.....

Well for me the main reason to stop buying is the lack of products that appeal to me rather than any of the points you raised. I started off with Beosound 9000 - the first moment i saw that I was totally hooked on its looks and function. A deeply impressive product in the 1990s that made me drool and made want to empty my bank balance for it. I had a Bs5 for 2 years but I found the wheel irksome and not at all intuitive so i sold it and when that happened it was a domino effect - I then sold my Beolab

  • Re: News on a new audio system?

I am not creating rumours. I spoke with x2 B&O dealers in Berks and Herts in Feb and they both alluded to a new audio system but no news since then hence me asking aorund here. I have been waiting and the house will be decorated soon. If no news it makes it rather difficult to plan a new music system. Like others we cant wait for too long and may have to go elsewhere than B&O. I had hoped with the Hi-End International music fayre in Munich which opened on the 9th May there would be some news

That's very disappointing if true. A hi-end B&O music system is long overdue since 2009 when the dead duck of a Bs5 was released. How very sad . .
