  • Bang & Olufsen withdrawal syndrome

Have to move out for a while due a house refurb and also hoping for a B&O solution in coming months that will play high definition music files. Decided to sell off my beloved BL5s, Bv4 and my not my not so loved Bs5. Now I'm left with daily pangs for music and TV the B&O way. Temporarily satisfied the withdrawals today by purchasing the Beo music app for my iphone so i can play music on it through my headphones with the B&O 'look' rather than using the dreary itunes music

Richard, Alex and MartinW I want to wish you guys prosperity and all the best. Sorry it's been tough. Let's hope that the recession clouds lift soon, B&O blow us away with some phenomenal gear and B&O businesses around the globe expand rather than contract.

Good grief Puncher you really need to take a chill pill. You obviously didn't get the French revolutionary humour did you in my mention of disrepute - hence your aggressive reply. Good grief dude chill out. Nobody is even hinting that you should curtail your human right to protest and express your opinion. Feel free.... We all are quite aware of how you feel. Could you at all find some love in your heart to do it with some gentleness, humour and sophistication? Some cheekiness, constructiveness

  • Re: Beolab 5's

Used Beolab 5 used dating 2010/11 cost about £7500-8000. As for waiting who knows when the successor will come. Could be next year or in few years. If you are just using CD quality music the Beolab 5s will never be obsolete. If you want studio quality high bit rate/sampled rate music then the Beolab 5 is limited and unable to play these unless the music file is downgraded.

  • Beolab 5's

Well it's not really speculation what I said as I am quoting the dealer in London. Whether he is speculating is a different issue. He said he heard it in a national dealer meeting but this top speaker could arrive next year or 5 years down the line so don't hold your breath... Finally, I don't agree with you that Beolab 5 can't be surpassed. Everything in engineering can be surpassed with research time and sufficient resources. The last 10 years has seen new drivers with lighter materials

Playmaker plays up to Mp3 320kbps quality. If you want the best from your CDs rip them to WMA LOSSLESS or FLAC LOSSLESS and buy a Bs5 encore to play them through. If you are into Studio quality 24 bit / 96 or 192kHz tracks from the likes of Linn Music, Naim Music etc... the Beolab 5 digital to analogue converter is now 10 years old and limited so won't be able to handle these and you will have to downgrade them to 16 bit / 44.1kHz but that defeats the purpose. My dealer said that B&O are

W5bno123, Miles and Puncher you have within a few replies been found guilty of bringing a positive thread that encourages fellow B&O fans and our beloved company into disrepute. I shall reserve sentencing till later but all I can say is bring your buckets to Madame La Guillotine to me 12 months hence. Let's try and do something different from moaning - B&O need our support. We all feel let down and a tad disappointed with some of the gear but I believe that B&O know that and are doing
