• Re: Beosystem 1 Issues - Any help?
I connected the bs1 datacable to a gender changer, and plugged it into the serial port of an old laptop running windows. Yes, it's the same cable, but a gender changer is required.
I dont use the dataport, and I don't have the USB type B/DB9 cable. I was trying to use a regular Type A/B USB cable, but it was not recognized. Is there a way to use a standard USB cable for this? or alternatively anyone who has a pinout of the cable connections? IF so
A regular USB cable won't work. You'll need the B&O usb->serial cable. I believe it's not even actually a usb port on the BS1 side, it's just a serial port. Not sure the reason behind the USB-style connector. I'd guess the updates are all over serial at 9600 baud. Have you found the service manual for the BS1? There might be some info on the pinout there?
I just dug up the service manual. Pin1 - Interlock Sense, 200 kohms, (the

  • Re: Replacing AV7000

I have only used the new setup for a day, so my answers may not be as helpful as they could be..
how do you manage not seeing the on screen displays from the BS1? I have a plasma that can handle its own video switching, and a Logitech Harmony 1 that can handle B&O codes, do you find you need to see the BS1 info?
I have always used the lintronic box to handle the 3rd party components, so the switch was really easy and so far I see no need to get into the

Got it all setup except, I decided I will get a new Center channel instead of putting an amp on the old one I used with the AV7000, so I am using my BL4000 that normally are real speakers as center for now. this is a great upgrade from AV7000 and is highly recommended I paid lesst than $200. Now I just need to find that Beolab 10 or 7-4....

How do you monitor the BS1 out on your PC? If I am using regular type A/B cable the PC doesn't detect the BS1 as a serial port. Also, some serial monitors does not show non ascii characters. it would be good to understand exactly what the BS1 is sending. I am assuming you are using the same cable when you are going direct from BS1 to the TV or via the PC? does the BS1 send the PON everytime or just sometimes?

  • Beosystem 1 setup

I just purchased a beosystem 1 off Ebay to replace my AV7000 – It will be setup this weekend together with my Beomaster 7000, Beogram CD 7000, PS3 and TV STB. The BS1 will be used to route the audio. The video will run via HDMI directly to the projector. The PS3, STB and the HDMI switch will be controlled via Lintronic. I am planning on using a Beolink active 1616 between the BM7000 and BS1 without the IR eye. BS1 in option 2 and BM7000 in Option 0. The IR eye is connected to the Lintronic

I am expecting to receive my pre-loved BS1 in a week or so and I will be happy to do some testing and compare with your results. we probably need to coordinate setup. Even if you have a problem that is specific to your unit, it should be fixable as long as you get something consistent out of the serial port when you are trying to turn on the TV. Worst case we would have to build a small serial translator... What software version are you on? I wonder if it is possible to update the software via the
