  • Re: BS9000 IR Remote Problems

Thanks Beobuddy I wonder what the chances are of finding a used PCB14 from a BS9000 that is being broken for spares... Any idea of the cost of a new PCB14? How difficult a job is it? I am an engineer and have worked on many electronic devices over the years Thanks again

Thank you Beobuddy for your detailed reply! I have looked again at the IR receiver PCB located by the CD platter - and it looks fairly clean even though it is quite hidden. I wasn't aware of the IR receiving diode by the standby button. So I tried again with both remotes pointing directly toward it. Still no response. I guess it's looking more & more likely the PCB is faulty

Ahh - I located the IR receiver. The eye shaped IR filter is perfectly clean. Could it be dust on the actual IR receiver diodes - or could the board be at fault? I wondered if it may be the PL cables - but then I guess it wouldn't function using the manual keypad if that were the case... Thanks

Hi Beobuddy Thanks for the reply. Where are the IR receivers located and what would be the suggested method for cleaning? Many thanks

Thanks Steve OK this is the procedure this morning. The BS9000 has been powered down & isolated since last night. The speakers have been in 'Audio' mode. 1) Unlplug the speakers from mains power 2) Move each speaker VIDEO / AUDIO / OFF switch to the OFF position 3) Connect each speaker to the BS9000 via PL Mk2 fully wired 8 core cables 4) Plug the speakers into the mains - note the standby lights now illuminated 5) Plug the BS9000 into the mains 6) Move the VIDEO / AUDIO / OFF speaker

Thanks Steve Yes I checked for this last night - and switched each speaker to L & R alternatively. I also swapped the leads - then tried one lead to one BL5000 & the second BL5000 wired from the first. No change when attempting Option 1 in any of the configurations

Hi - Thanks for the replies. The speakers are connected - it all works fine using the manual keypad on the BS9000. The displays are working fine too on the BL5000. There is no TV in the room. I have checked the remotes with a TV in a different room. Both appear to be fine.

  • BS9000 IR Remote Problems

Hi All I have just acquired a BS9000 Mk1 & a pair of Beolab 5000 speakers. The BS9000 is working fine - as are the speakers & displays. However the BS9000 responds to input via the manual keypad - but not remote. I have a BL 1000 and have entered SOUND - 1 - STORE whilst the unit is in standby. The standby LED doesn't blink and it still won't respond to the BL 1000. I have also tried with a Beo4. Mine is an early version & the display doesn't flash when you press standby &
