  • beomaster 2000 (2801) vs 3000 (2402)

    Is there any reason to prefer one of the above mentioned Beomasters for a technical reason or because of sound quality? I am looking for a vintage Beomaster to use with my Beogram 1700 turntable and Beovoxes S45-2's.

  • stylus "retipping"; aluminium cantilever good enough?

    I just received a Beogram 1700 in good condition, it is equipped with a MMC20S cartridge. I am thinking about getting the humble "S" upgraded to a "CL" or Shibata needle/diamond, by getting it retipped. There is also the choice of material used for the cantilever; aluminium or boron; the price-difference is enormous, almost twice as expensive, and even than the original B&O cartridges used "sapphire", can aluminium be regarded as a equivalent? (I always try to get

  • Re: streaming to a Beocenter 9500 -> Beovox S45's

    Thanks for the suggestions. Is there any reason to believe that the Playmaker would be in any way superior to a Teufel/Raumfeld? I don't like options that require frequent updating or upgrading like Sonos.

  • streaming to a Beocenter 9500 -> Beovox S45's

    After searching this site and the internet, I am still confused about this. What, as of april 2020, is the preferred/state of the art method of listening to internetradio or youtube-music or music stored on a computer if I want that to happen through my Beocenter 9500 with it's Beovox S45-2 speakers? There are all sorts of streaming devices that I come across, including B&O's own "Core" and the second hand available "Playmaker", or Apple's Express (now discontinued

  • Re: Beovision Horizon still an attractive proposition?

    The lack of a glass contrast screen gives the BV Horizon a resemblance with cheaper laptop PC's, in my opinion. But the BV 14 is not for sale any more, only the Eclipse and the Horizon remain, a strange combination, price-wise. Will B&O stop producing TV's? How can one take such expensive TV's seriously when they are discontinued so fast, within two years of introduction? It makes (even) me, as a long time B&O-enthousiast back-off and have a look at competitors. Perhaps B&O

  • Beovision Horizon still an attractive proposition?

    I/m thinking about a new TV; just a stand-alone TV to watch actual TV programmes, with good stereo sound, so surround sound is not important. But sound is important to me, and that is why I still consider a Beovision a candidate. I don't like the trend towards huge TV's, 40" or 43" is enough for my viewing distance. The Horizon is already 2 years "old", and was criticised for lacking the latest and greatest tech (HDR) back then, so how would it compare to comparable offerings

  • Re: New Amp/Tuner

    In my experience, for pairing the Beocenter with Beovox 'passive' speakers; the 9500 amplifier sounds much better than the 9300. The 9300 reacts quicker though by remote control, and would be my choice for use with Beolab active speakers.

  • Re: Beovision horizon

    Thanks for the info. How does the Horizon compare to the V1-40? Comparable TV's, although the V1 is not produced anymore, but still can be found newish second hand/demo perhaps. Not sure 4K is useful for me, on a 40" screen.

  • Re: Beovision horizon

    Adding to this thread; I, long time B&O customer, am considering a Horizon, and inevitably also compare to competitors; like Panasonic, Sony and Samsung, in 40" size. Traditionally, the strong points that causes me to purchase a Beovision are; sound quality, and a quality remote control. (aside from getting a nice TV of course) As far as I can see, the situation has not changed very much in that respect. Buying a 'other' marque TV still comes with a sub-par remote and sound. The

  • Beovision 7-40 vs modern/new TV other brand

    As said in the subject-titel; how does the in many eyes still beautiful Beovision 7-40 (MK4 or newer) compare to a brand new TV from one of the big boys like Sony or LG? Would it still be worth buying? Or has picture quality made such (too) big steps since then? Of course, the added 'soundbar' ("avant la lettre") or beolab 7 series is a big plus, as is the design, but how about the actual HD picture? I regard the 7-40 as one of the best/most beautiful B&O TV-designs ever, and
