• Re: Beosound Level - new soundbar?

As always, I shall wait until I see one in the flesh to give a definitive opinion, but one of the press photos that was sent to me shows the light wood grille at such a angle that the shadow of the speaker cutout underneath can be seen. Unfortunately his makes it look like one of those old radios wit a beige coloured grille, where the cloth has got so dirty, you can see the shape of the speakers marked out in dust and grime!

so it looks like I got a bad adapter from my dealer, right?
Yes, it is quite common for DIN adaptors to be the 'wrong way around' - i.e inputs instead of outputs. If you explain the problem to your dealer, he should be able to swap for the correct lead.
The dealer shouldn't be selling a DIN adaptor anyway - the headphones plug into the headphone socket, not any of the DIN sockets!

  • Re: Technical Sound Guide for Beogram 4000c is now online...
There's not much confusion over which Beosound 2 you mean - since no one thinks that you mean the little MP3 player any more.
Amusingly, we have a Beosound 1 in the kitchen but I have a Beosound 2 in the cupboard under the stairs and it is the little MP3 player! It was a very generous present from Mrs. S years ago but really isn't my sort of thing, so it has never been out of its box and I have no idea what to do with it now...

Whilst I understand the confusion over calling a re-manufactured 4002 a '4000', one important thing to consider is that the 4002 has room inside for the new RIAA PCB. As I remember from my last time with a 4000, you'd struggle to squeeze a matchbox inside, let alone a PCB, so they couldn't have used one for the conversion. Regardless of the reasoning behind them, I love the styling and the colour combinations. Just wasn't so much a fan of the price - not that it matters now anyway

  • Re: Beogram 5500 turntable noisw

It could well be the usual issue of a plastic tyre cracking that afflicts these motors. If I may quote B&O guru, Tim Jarman... It is usually caused by the magnetic ring for the FG servo just above the commutator inside the motor. There is a plastic “tyre” that holds it in place in the motor and these age and then crack - the loose end gets mixed up with the brushes and make a noise. Normally just removing the offending loose piece is all you have to do, the ring seems to stay in place

  • Re: MMC cartridge in 2020

As an aside, has anyone any experience of Audio Origin in the UK? http://audio-origin.co.uk/ Given that I have a handful of MMCs that need rebuilding, and they are only about 25 minutes away from where I live, I suppose I really ought to "shop local" and give them a try myself.

Do you have the necessary shorting plug plugged into the LINE socket on the rear panel? You won't hear any output if not.

  • Re: Beogram 4000c - Recreated Limited Edition
Some young designers (or so called…) like to design weird looking object with unreal specs and stick a B&O logo on it. But most of the time they lack the very essence of what B&O design is or was. This deck is nothing B&O to me.
Whilst I do completely agree with you, I have to say......................I quite like it nonetheless!
I hope B&O don’t go down the path of audiophile cables nor for that matter audiophile anything. People go to B&O to get away from the crazy audiophiles and their obsessive audiophoolery.
Whilst I am a crazy, obsessive B&O nut, I am also a crazy, obsessive audiophile and I find your comments very hurtful.
