• Re: Idler wheel doesn't adjust speed?

Might also help to explain what model of turntable you're asking about!

  • Re: Your latest addi(c)tion?

Is the CD50 also a pre-production unit? I've never seen one with a drop-down flap and extra controls before.

  • Re: Mixed feelings with B&O - Is it loosing value? They don’t care about old clients?

Whilst I feel sorry for you regarding some of the reliability issues you've had, I'm struggling to understand why you seem to place such a high concern on items losing their value? Do you really expect something new to hold its value for ever? I presume you don't drive a car if this is the case, as the value of cars only ever goes downwards!

I love it as well, but can't seem to find the price mentioned anywhere!

  • Re: BEOGRAM 5005 TRACKING

The issue is nothing to do with the stylus. The tracking is controlled by a bulb and an optical sensor - normally there is a shutter between the two that stops light reaching the sensor. As the arm tracks in and moves off-centre, the shutter allows some light to the sensor, which activates the motor to wind the arm carriage on - when the arm is straight again, the shutter covers the lamp again and the motor stops. This continues all the way across the record - simple but effective! Anyway, what has
On the plus side, they make excellent substitutes as record cleaner! Just in case there are any hard-core audiophiles out there... this is a joke. Do not harvest hairy caterpillars for cleaning your vinyl... It will not make the sound less "anemic", nor will it add a "sense of dimensionality" hitherto unheard-of in this time-space continuum. Cheers -geoff
Yesterday's technology, I'm afraid, Geoff I'm now using a trained

  • Re: A horrible nasty question?....

As to "how do you tell?", I don't know if it's the same on the BL50s but, on the 90s, when you run the room calibration, it sends a sweep tone through each drive unit in turn. Therefore I imagine it would be easy enough to hear if one is not working, or distorting.

  • Re: Beogram RX2 what Preamp?
Finding one will be difficult. A Beogram 6500 would be easier - and a better deck, being tangential. Martin
I'm going to have to respectfully disagree on this one! Despite the fact that the linear tracking Beograms have a higher perceived quality and are worth more money, it is my opinion that they simply don't sound as good as the radial tracking decks.

  • Re: Beolab 8000 Spikes YES or NO

Spikes are always good for speakers on carpeted floors*, however the B&O original ones for the Beolab 8000s are too short and not pointed enough to successfully break through the pile to the floor below. In addition, they seem to have a different screw thread to all other speaker spikes I have encountered, so you can't use them either. * except Beolab 90s. They seem pretty stable without spikes...
