  • Re: Antireflective coating on beovision

I agree its not small money, unfortunately in Australia we pay way more than waht we should for decent gear. We pay ( last time I looked ) an extra 50% luxury car tax for vehicles roughly over 57K AUD I think it is ( I could be wrong ), to "protect" a "local" car induistry thats made up of maufacturers from overseas. Lunacy. Its called corporate welfare. Companies here know that the few people in Australia who appreciate good gear, whether it be cars or hi fi, will pay for good

I was speaking to an authorized repairer here in Australia about 8000s, and he said generally the electronics doesnt drift and the speakers themselves are pretty sound ( excuse unintended pun ). He did say most issues he had seen seem to come from salt air exposure ( the speakers being near the sea ) and some corrosion can occur on circuit boards and the foam degrades due to the salt air. I guess if you live in a lot of european countries, this could be a potential issue. Where I live is over 200km

I had a similar discussion with an authorized repairer here recently about how you could repair scratches on the screen of a beovision 8-32. The answer was you cant - it would cost about $1K AUD to replace the whole screen.

Hi Thank you for your comments. Soren - I found the older posts with serial number ranges very useful ! Maybe avoiding ABL ( loudness ) might be a good idea? I'm a bit of a purist anyway with sound. I also have a call in to our local B&O repairer to gently shake the tree ( so to speak ) and see what falls out. Started down the slippery slope of B&O purchases........

  • Beolab 8000s issues?

I'm looking at speaker options and considering some BeoLab 8000s. I found a comment on the beocentral site http://beocentral.com/beolab8000speaker "Despite the drivers being permanently connected to an amplifier of known characteristics, the designers chose them poorly, during the life of the loudspeaker both had to be modified for satisfactory, reliable operation. Some of the woofers used had a plastic cone which would melt and become detached from the voice coil, whilst the tweeter was

  • Beovision 8 - IR electrosmog?

Hi I have just started using my bv8-32 and i noticed at teh same time my foxtel box is not reponding well to its remote, in fact at times you had to almost have the remote against the foxtel box for it to work. I placed some brown coloured opaque masking tape over the foxtel box IR receiver and this seemed to mostly fix the issue. We moved house and have a room with larger windows, but the ammount of ambient light isnt greatly changed from the old house. We dont have any sources of IR that I'm
