• Beomaster 5000 cannot communicate with MCP 5000

Hello Beoworld, I have recently acquired a beosystem 5000. The beomaster appears to be working fine, in that all the buttons operate as they should, all channels are clear and sound great, and all the input sources are fine. However, the MCP will not connect. If I push any button on the MCP it delays a second or two and then says "no transmission" illuminated in red. Has anyone else encountered this? Can it be fixed? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thank-you! This is definitely a start. I was able to capture the MCP IR's flashing on either corner of the unit, but nothing from the beomaster. I can surmise this to mean the MCP is functional, whilst the beomaster likely requires servicing or part replacement. Possibly a new IR eye?

...Also (sorry to have so many questions, this is my first time ever repairing this) how do I get the second gear off after the big one has been removed? There is a "C" shaped washer, do I pry that off? I can't put the belt on until that gear is removed.
Orro - that is an awesome flat. I could only dream of something like that with London property prices. I definitely share your view on minimalism and waiting to get fewer, quality items. I also have a BC9500 that I inherited from my grandparents who bought it new in the very early 90s and I love how it still looks futuristic and is beautifully functional. What speakers are you using with it? Jon
I use a pair of CX50's in the kitchen, you can see one

  • Re: Can B&O subwoofer be used with any receiver or amp?

I use a Cona in exactly the setup outlined by Jeff with a pair of CX 100's as the satellites. It would certainly function with a non B&O amp and could be set-up very easily, I would however recommend CX series speakers be used exclusively in tandem, not only because the combination sounds surprisingly good, but also because the Cona was specifically designed for CX speakers to give them a fuller sound picture (as the CX speakers have a limited low frequency output). Additionally, its featured

What a great topic of discussion! Minimalism is a frightening label in our culture of mass consumerism. Adopting a lifestyle where less truly is more allows real connection to the objects in your life. I have always been a firm believer in buying something once and buying it right, to last as long as possible. Minimalism never goes out of style and provides a stage where each object is a treasure to be had. I have done this since I first moved out for university years ago and have been patient to

Turns out Krazy Glue and C-clamps will do the trick! The lid is reassembled and works nicely again (see photo links above), and the Beogram looks about as clean as new. Now I just need to replace the cartridge I ruined. If anyone has an extra cartridge they would like to sell which will fit this unit please message me!

  • Beogram 3404 Spring-loaded dust cover woes

Today I acquired a phenomenal Beogram 3404 in a vintage shop for $40. It functioned perfectly but was in need of a thorough wipe down. In my haste and excitement to get it gleaming I not only destroyed the stylus on the cartridge, I also may have ruined the dust covers ability to ever work properly again. I noticed a large buildup of dust and grime in the dust cover groove where the hinge assembly is and foolishly removed the mounting screws only to have a booby trap explode. 2 out of 3 of the black

What is the replacement belt size? I removed the old one from my cd50 in pieces and so far all I can tell is that its a 1.2 mm square belt.
