• Re: Beosound Emerge

While reading about the new Emerge, my thoughts were as follows: "Damn,... another mono speaker" "Isn't that woofer firing directly into a solid panel? How would they have gotten that to sound good?" "Looks good enough to me, the price is 'alright, and I'm sure it sounds great'" "Damn,... another mono speaker"

  • Re: Another new headphone: BeoPlay HX
If you look at the pictures in the link, that I posted, you clearly see that case. MM
Ah yes, I see it now. "Now Including a Fabric Carrying Case" doesn't seem to be an appropriate description for what that is. Pretty neat
Finally it comes with a proper case.
Is there? I can't find any pictures, and the comparison chart on the B&O website only states "Now Including a Fabric Carrying Case". Did the H9 Gen3 not include the wonderful microfiber sack? I surely hope this doesn't just mean they're bundling the HX with the same old bag. It is better than nothing, I suppose

  • Re: Beosound Level - new soundbar?

Design is top notch - I miss my original Beosound 1, and I agree with the resemblance. Seems like it's sonically solid, too. The issue I have is that, I already have so many portable/moveable speakers. I kind of wish this was a mains-only speaker. I know some of you are probably asking why that matters... just does to me, I guess. Mind you, it seems it would be possible to simply remove the battery, and just keep it plugged in. Price point is a bit hard to justify for me, when there are several

A bit confused by something, and can't quite figure this out.... Is it a BT/wireless speaker designed to be charged up when low on battery, or a mains-powered speaker that has the option to be portable?

  • Re: Audyssey sound calibration for Dolby Atmos with S8 / BL14

Totally agree with MM.... the auto-calibration settings are a bit wonky. I will say that my Audessey also set everything to -12.0dB. Not to mention that the distances were pretty off - hence why I override them with my manual readings. It's also curious that Audessey determined all but two channels as Small. I'm sure you're aware of all the necessary checks with phase and messing around with the subwoofer placement knob. Looking forward to more details.

Hey Leo, My BL14 is connected to a Marantz NR1710, so the Audessey calibration is quite familiar. From my understanding, some of the full-range signal is diverted to the subwoofer. This is why the BL14/S8 documents recommend setting the satellites to "Large". Basically, the subwoofer not only acts as the unit to produce the LFE signals, but also takes care of the lower end frequencies of each channel. On a "normal" sub-sat system (with passive small satellites), you would assign

Not sure if this has been posted, but they glared at me for those split seconds. Apparently, his 'air-ness' preferred the Form 2 (better seen as video, of course).

  • Re: Experiences with U.S. B&O dealers?

If you're planning to go somewhere near-ish, you might also want to consider B&O in Portland - sales tax is cheaper too! I live in NorCal now, too (relocated from UK), and it's a shame, if you ask me... I've mentioned it before, but there was a time the SF Bay Area had 5 dealers.
