• Re: Beolab 5 problem: SPDIF and Powerlink in parallel
How's that been working out for you B&O?
Not too good :( To upset the customers of your flagship audio products, BL5 & BS5 is not a sensible strategy. On a side note, the majority of our BS5 customers who bought into this product in the early years are now so p*ss*d off that a product that promised so much has had no meaningful upgrades during its life that make it more user friendly and relevant to the modern digital music environment. Sure

  • Beolab 5 problem: SPDIF and Powerlink in parallel
Make your setup as you like - create your own problems.
?????????? This attitude resembles B&O brainwashing & arrogance!!!!! In my case this is a set up a B&O customer wants. If my customers aren't happy that makes me upset! I'll make this customer happy and sorry to say this (as is increasingly the case) maybe a non B&O solution.
It's this grandious amounts of fu*kups that makes me sick
It's this grandious amounts of fu*kups that makes me sick and tired of the brand. My old BV5 had source data and it all worked flawlessly. Great work B&O.
Totally agree, there seems to be no consistantcy of approach or forward thinking with regards to the main Audio Video range. Another example of B&O not thinking things through is with the Playmaker. This ugly, ugly box (great sound though) deserves to be hidden away. However in order to access

  • Re: Olive One vs B&O
Buy a Plamaker, build a round case for an iPadMini - there you go. No need to wait for some fancy Olive-device Grrr! Millemissen
Then spend all day rebooting things and wait for the playmaker to re- appear back on the network!

  • Beosound 5
Well, well - that triggered some thoughts MLGW is "meant to bridge multiple communication standards" = BeoLink ML and different homeautomation standarts. It makes it possible to manage ML-sources and homeautomation products with one common userinterface = the BeoLink iPad-app. In a setup with NL-products (audio-and videoproducts) and homeautomation you will still need some kind of bridge. NL is still a Bang & Olufsen-standart for audio and video
BeoJeff, the Beo 6 is essentially that solution. You can browse the collection on the screen and it works directly with the BeoSound 5.
With a quite hideous interface and very poor touch control thrown in :)
Trip, Any likelihood of a "MLGW light" solution for those of us who want to use the iPad to control our B&O products and navigate the BeoSound 5? That control would be nice, but buying a MLGW just for that purpose without any need to control curtains, lights, etc., seems like a waste. It would seem logical that this could be built into the software of the BeoSound 5, since it already can connect to a home wifi network.
Quite agree Beojeff. Of

  • AirPlay to BeoSound5?

Just used "Shairport4w" to enable me to Airplay music to a PC (connected to a pair of lovely BeoLab 3s) from iPhone ? Was just thinking if any boffins our there had managed to do the same with a BeoMaster/BeoSound5. This should be possible as this is just a windows box, running B&O software?

  • Re: Beolink app news

NL or more correctly a computer network can already allow a bvis 11 to stream video from a hard drive. Cat7 is recommended by B&O mainly because of its ability to carry analogue audio. If analogue audio is not required HD base T can do amazing things over bog standard Cat5e Just a few years ago we had to run 2x cat7 for B&Os hd matrix solution. All of my competitors were using just a single Cat5 to do just a good a job. On many jobs where rewiring is not possible we are using CT100 coax to

Why is everyone getting so excited about NL? It is only IP based technology, other brands have been doing it for years. Is Hanging on to ML and continually to put badly needle research resources into outdated technology sensible? Although it is important to look after existing clients who have ML, but one day soon ML will be dead. Just a thought.
