• Re: Beolab 9 OMG!!!

Lack of midrange that corresponded to placement was my greatest issue but have been happy with them since. I haven't auditioned the BL5 in my environment but I hope for it to be a step up. I didn't want any opportunity for my partner to tell me to take them back!

Congratulations! I've had a love hate relationship with my BL9's but you can't argue that they are fantastic value for money and they look fantastic as well. As Dave says placement is quite important to get the best out of the ALT but once set up correctly they are great. I'll be taking delivery of BL5's next week and have a huge dilemma! I can't justify such great speakers being relegated as rear channel speakers but I have no other areas to use them in and I can't see

I am still far more happier using this than the BS5 and it's only going to get better over time.
Can you explain your preference for the Moment over the BS5? I'm assuming your sentiment would be the same for the Encore as well.
I just never felt connected with the BS5 or Encore, it sat in a corner and looked nice enough but I feel I need to be at hand with digital files more often than I would than using a CD player

Had the Moment now for a few weeks and am finding the mood wheel doesn't exactly work properly for me and I'm not sure why. I press the mood and it plays the same song over and over again, or will play the initial song, a different song and then right back to the original one. Should I reset the system? Hopefully the fix the add content section to acknowledge a function being pressed. I've had to wait 5 minutes when I go to

  • Re: Bang & Olufsen audio system sounds better with Audi
I've heard all the high end car audio systems from the big names, and the best so far is the meridian upgrade system in the new rangerover, followed by the mark levinson in the old Lexus sc 430.The B&o systems are certainly much better in audi than bose though.
Had you auditioned the Naim system in the Bentley? I find it quite nice but not sure how it compares to the Meridian/Levinson/Harman & B&O systems.

  • Re: Beolab 9 electrical burning smell after playing at high volume

Also you would less likely notice this burning smell if you were in the room for the entire duration of the playback, I think being outside and then coming into the room would have heightened the smell for you.

Sounds all very interesting, but missing xmas sales will be a little disappointing for them I suspect.

  • Re: Has anyone tried adding a BL2 to a pair of BL9 for music?

Agree John. I've never come across a speaker where placement and surroundings are so important in achieving the best possible sound. I was originally dissapointed with the BL9's until I played around a bit more with placement which took away that apparent lack of midrange that I was experiencing. I was considering a BL2 in my setup but I don't watch enough movies to justify it. My partner wants to get a cat, this thread has made a good case for me to make against getting one! :D
