• SP12 Stylus on SP10 or SP14 cartridge

Is it possible to install a SP12 Stylus on a SP10 or SP14 cartridge? I know it physically fits but is there a difference in the electronics? Thanks Peter

So checked the switch beneath the lift button and the switch associated with the ON position next to the motor. Both seems to work fine mechanical and the same way as my other deck. Still when upside up nothing except on 17 where it starts as soon as I turn the knob to 17 and pulls in the arm and lowers it. Puzzled.

Dunno. You mean the Knob switch? The knob it self? And then there's the strange thing that it starts when upside down.. Peter

  • Beogram 1202 won't play 33 or 25

I picked up a second BG 1202 knowing that it wouldn't play 33 or 25. It's in mint condition on the outside and inside, no dust at all. Anyway when the knob is turned to ON nothing happens, when turned to 33 and 25 nothing happens as well when pressing lift. At 17 it starts and move the arm to the right spot but it does so on it's own without me pressing lift. The funny thing is that when turned upside down and turning the know to ON it starts running. Any ideas? Peter

Problem solved (fingers crossed) I dissembled the cam gear mechanism and put it back together and now it works again. When taking it apart there was a loud click so something was out of alignment, probably caused by me hitting the pickup arm pretty hard while it was playing. Lesson: Never put the lid on while playing. Now I just need to get the arm parallel again, that is now a little out of alignment. I'm wanting to take the deck completely apart to clean and oil everything but for now the "if

Update, just tried to increase the weight on the arm to 3 grams. That worked on one record while on another it still skated back before lifting and returning to base and on a third it lifted prematurely. Up to now it has worked beautiful since I got it three months ago. The only thing that has happened was that I hit the arm while playing and turning the knob all the way to 17 which demanded quite a bit of force compared to the other settings. Don't know what to think of it.
Peter - mine did that too and I found out that it needed a new stylus - I bought a second hand SP12 and it sounds perfect - one way I tested that was to increase the weight on the arm so that it tracked properly. Not sure if that is what it is only an observation from mine.
Hi Andrew, Thanks, that might very well be the case as I bumped pretty hard into the arm with the lid/cover when taking it off when the record was playing. Lesson learned never put it on

  • Re: Beogram 1202 Record End Too Soon
There is one more problem with the record end. When the record end sequence starts, the tonearm is nuged rather violently back away from the record label. I imagine this cannot be good for the needle nor records in the long run. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?
I know this is an old thread, but did you or anyone else find a solution to this?
