BeoLab 8000 not playing sound from Cable (Samsung TV)

i recently purchased a samsung tv ( Samsung 75" - TU700D Series - 4K UHD LED LCD TV). i paired them with my beoplay 8000s and a beolab receiver 1. its connected through optical. When i play cable TV no sound comes through. however when i use HDMI connected devices (apple tv) it plays sound fine. anyone else have issues like this?
