  • Re: New software update for Beolab Transmitter 1 | 2020_11_05 | BL17/18...

For me that bogus update process didn’t go so well last evening. I have BS Core+TR1+BL18+BL19 2.1 setup. First time I tried, it updated the TR1 and only one BL18. The other BL18 and the 19 were left with previous software. I tried multiple times unplugging the mains for 60s like the manual says with no luck. Still the remaining speakers were left without any update. In the end I’ve managed to update the rest of the speakers one by one this way: 1. Unplug all speakers and TR1 from the

  • Spotify Connect on BeoSound Stage or Edge?

Greetings! I would like to know if either BeoSound Stage or Edge have integrated Spotify Connect. I can’t find that in the specs anywhere. Did they missed adding Spotify to the specs ? Currently, I’m using a Core+BL18+BL19 in the living room either streaming via Spotify or as TV’s speakers. Also, not really important but, will the Stage or Edge be able to join a Multiroom playback together with the Core in the living room? Thanks.

LOL. Old tricks never get old :). Glad I’m not the only one with this problem and the solution works for you too. It’s probably a bug in the BO App combined with recent products firmwares.

I missed your forum post about this. Indeed, I first noticed the problem a few months ago, coinciding with the last Core software update. I don't think it's a hidden feature :). Most probably a bug.

I know it sounds weird but try to unplug every BO multiroom product from mains, wait 60 seconds then plug them all back. I noticed the same issue with my BeoSound Core. When it happens, the music starts with a “fade-in” effect for the first 3 seconds. If I play a 24/192 flac over local DLNA, the delay is even bigger, around 5-7 seconds. Neither rebooting the BS Core, the router or DLNA server works to solve the delay. Only unplugging the Core from the mains solves the issue for me. In

  • Re: Beolab 18 (Powerlink vs Toslink)

On standby the amps shut down. They were all designed to work like this (amps running full), except Beolab 50 and 90. So I don't think there's a problem. You can check this by stopping the music and turning the volume all the way down to 0. You will still hear a small hiss in the speakers (especially audible from the tweeters). This hiss has the same intensity no matter what volume you set. And if you put them in Standby the hiss will disappear. For PowerLink cables look for ones that have

  • Re: Beolab 18 (Powerlink vs Toslink)

Hi there, I’ve done many tests and to my surprise the PowerLink connection sounded more natural to my ears. Over optical they sounded a bit bright and digital. Also you will loose around -3db volume output when using optical, but that’s not a big deal. After reading Geoff Martin’s blog I realized the amps in the 18s are always running at full power. That’s a less than ideal place for a digital signal to enter. For PowerLink, I’ve used a high quality CAT8 cable made by

  • Re: Is the Transmitter 1 actually wireless?

Hi mbolo01, Can TR1 work as a WISA Switch but with the signal coming from its Optical input ? I'm thinking of doing a similar setup with a stereo 4.1. The thing is, there's a double Digital->Analog conversion happening because the Core is connected to TR1 with PowerLink: - 1st conversion happens in the Core when it sending via PowerLink - 2nd conversion happens at the speakers If the Core was to connect to TR1 with Optical, the signal will stay digital until reaching the speakers.

  • Re: BeoLab 18 + BeoLab 19 bass management

Hi Curly, So without the Transmitter 1, the only option will be using PowerLink: BS Core -> 1st BL18 -> 2nd BL18 -> BL19. With BL19 LP filter around 50Hz (see bellow). This is called a parallel connection. In this configuration the BL18’s will always go down to the lowest frequency they can. They don’t know about the BL19 subwoofer. No matter how you set the LP filter on the BL19, the two BL18s will deliver the same. From the specs, BL18 goes down around 40Hz at normal listening
