  • Re: Easiest way to relubricate BeoCenter 2300/2500 top glass slides?

Looking at your video, my first thought is that the belt is slipping. If you haven't already, take a look at beoparts-shop and get yourself a new belt. https://www.beoparts-shop.com/product/belt-for-beomaster-6000-ouverture/ A bit tricky to replace but with some help from the forums I managed to replace mine!

Many thanks for your insights on the topic. Since the system is put back together, polished up and found its place on a kitchen sideboard already, I don't believe I will do any measurements right now. I believe the drive and the board was used together before, which would lessen the need for any adjustments. But I will return to this post if the need arises - if any problems with the "new" drive would occur! Again, thanks a million for the good advice so far!

Hi Manfy, No, I did not recap the servo board (yet) since it currently works. I know it is just a matter of time but I have not investigated yet which would need a replacement. There is no "kit" available that I know of like there is for the Beocenter 9500 drive for example. Not sure it it is the same ones on that one? I have not made any measurements or adjustments for the laser current since it it used with its original servo board. Is this needed regardless of that? There is no skipping

I just performed this manoueuvre on my Ouverture. Only a very small portion of the upper guides are visible but it actually seems like they are not really "used" the same way as the lower ones. I believe that with the doors attached, the weight is on the lower guides and the upper ones are not actually touching the plastic guides with any real force. I cleaned the lower ones with a Q-tip and then sprayed some silicone lubricant spray on a new Q-tip and dragged it along the slanted edge

An update. The CD I used for testing seems to be problematic. No scratches and no issues in other players but with this particular drive/laser it causes the strange behaviour I have reported. Shifting to other CDs (can't believe I did not try that before), I found that it works fine - except that it is now and then stuttering as if the CD is scratched when it is clearly not. Like it is having trouble tracking or something. I believe Dillen suggested in an old thread that this can be caused by

For some reason, it tries to move the laser further than to the top. That is the rattling noise heard. So it seems to not care that the home switch is triggered. I trust your deductive skills here. It means that one or more ICs are at fault. To replace any of these would not really be possible for me, so maybe I will see if sourcing a replacement board (PCB 8) is the most realistic way forward - or perhaps changing to a CDM4 kit, which might be easier to find. • Re: Beosound Ouverture CD drive types interchangeable?

@manfy, -5V confirmed on P67 between pins 1 and 3 (GND)! Now I know that I have the possibility to switch CD drive type if needed! Many thanks to you both, Bill and manfy!

Bill, yes, that is exactly how I interpreted it! But thanks for clarifiying!

Excellent news, Bill! That was my thinking as well. I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. manfy, I saw these notes in that service manual too but could not make sense of if anything needed modification or not. Looking at the companion circuit board for the CDM12, it is marked as supplying both 5V and 12V via the P200 connector that goes to the board behind the CD. So hopefully it should work with Ouverture CDM12 -> Ouverture CDM4 as well! Reading about the mechanisms, it is

My first thought was that the laser carriage end position switch engaged to late, causing the laser motor to try to move it too far but I cannot find anything mechanical suggesting that this would be the case. It engages only at the very top millimeters which would not be reached when trying to play track 2 or 3 for example.
