  • Re: Beosystem 4 question

Well i’m Having no luck in getting a LG PUC - and it’s a bit irrelevant anyhow as I’m controlling via hDMI CEC. I’m having some overscan on the TV, but can’t find the service manual for the Beosystem 4 to find the service menu to make changes. Any idea?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/192KHz-HDMI-ARC-Audio-Adapter-Digital-to-Analog-SPDIF-RCA-Converter-Extractor/273369779218 I’m thinking of using the above adaptor to get the audio back from my LG OLED65 to the Beosystem 4 and use the digital-in on the Beosystem 4. Not sure what input it would be on the Beosystem 4, though it would possibly be A.AUX/Camera/PC

That’s not a good sign; the stereo cable should work just as well. Maybe worth trying with modulation (although I’ve never seen that!). as for on/off- does the remote have separate on and off buttons?

If you have the PUC, set it for plug with no modulation

I’ve never used a projector, but if you choose one that can be switched on/off with HDMI-CEC, then you can do this with a serial cable and a raspberry PI. that’s how I drive a couple of Beosystem 3s with a LG and Samsung (respectively) monitor attached

With you using this as the main screen, I think you’ll be OK. The protocol looks the same, and the serial port speed is the same. On/off commands and prefixes are the same (PON/POF) The only difference is the plug on the projector. although not having tried it, so caveat emptor! Note that you need to tell the Beosystem 3 that you are using a B&O monitor so it will send commands through the serial port. Choose a relatively early display (with the correct resolution) to minimise all the extra

Well I first built the IR cable -to connect the Beosystem 4 to a raspberry pi (running raspian). This cable was RJ45 to two wires, with 2.2k and 3.3k resistors to reduce the output voltage from the Beosystem 4 from 5v to 3.3v acceptable for the raspberry. i connected pin 5 (blue/white) to GPIO18 and pin 6 (green) to 0v on the raspberry and set up the Beosystem 4 to use the IR out to switch on and off the TV - SETUP,DISPLAY SETUP. I chose the Samsung UA75ES9000R PUC as Samsung don’t change their

While waiting for B&O, I went ahead and used a Samsung screen control, into a raspberry and used HDMI-CEC to switch the TV on and off (using a phase-eight dongle for CEC injection). It’s reliable and less wires, so i’m not sure that even if B&O come back with a LG PUC, that I’ll change to that.

Hi, I tried the only LG screen they had in the database - and that didn't' work - I suspect they changed the remote codes when they went to the pointer remote. @beojeff. I think I have two options really - both injecting CEC codes into the HDMI cable (that's how I managed the screen with the Beosystem 3). Either through the serial port again or IR to CEC - both need a raspberry, but I've used one like this for almost a year now and it is quite stable. The beauty of the Beosystem 3
